  1. Oh wow. What a unique design for the box. So wasn't expecting that. So that's both Sony and Microsoft going for vertical units this time around. Interesting. Hopefully this will address their heat issues. Oh and a completely digital version with no disc drive... mad.
  2. That's all I needed to see to sell me. Looks absolutely insane.
  3. New IP by Capcom, Pragmata. Thought for sure it was Kojima Productions. Horizon 2!
  4. Silent Hill surely Edit: nope it was Resident Evil 8. Looked very interesting. Liked the different setting. Sort of RE4 village vibes.
  5. Demon Souls doesn't do much for me. Just never gelled with those games. Footage of Deathloop, though. I'm all for more Arkane Studios games and can't wait for this one.
  6. An Astrobot game I can play (I don't have the PSVR), happy with that. Wondered if they'd bring that IP back as they'd be stupid not to with it being a hit on the PS4.
  7. New Hitman is always a good thing. And launch window is even better. Can't wait.
  8. Solar Ash! I've been waiting to see/hear more from this. After loving Hyper Light Drifter I'll happily take this devs next game, no questions asked.
  9. This Superbrothers game looks great. They're definitely nailing the mix of big and indie titles here so far. Whereas I'm not liking the look of Godfall. I'm getting a slight Too Human vibe from the visuals.
  10. Oh, Ghostwire Tokyo I presume. Wasnt exactly how I thought it would turn out being a first person title but there you go. Its Shinji Mikami though so it should be solid.
  11. This Ember Lab title, Kena Bright of Spirits is looking rather nice now isn't it. Ah, I thought the style looked familiar. Ko-OP and Goodbye Volcano High. Could be interesting if they're going the Life is Strange route.
  12. Housemarque's new IP. This is their biggest game yet and you can definitely see that. Still possesses that arcade-y feel by the looks of it. But the name is awful. Returnal. Hopefully that'll change. Looks good though. And good to see them getting a push as they were on a downturn after Matterfall and Nex Machina, and Stormdivers went on the backburner for it so hopefully it'll play out for them.
  13. Hmmm... now that Project Athia reminded me a lot of the Agni's Prophecy tech demo from years ago. Could be interesting.
  14. Hell yeah, new Ratchet and Clank. Had a feeling it'd turn up and more than happy to have more. Looks fantastic.
  15. That's more like it. Spiderman 2 and playing as Miles. And this year? Knew they were pushing it for launch but really didnt expect it to be coming this holiday season.
  16. Really? Leading off with GTA 5? I get it's the biggest selling modern game but do they really need to start with that out the gate. Weird choice.
  17. All set up for watching, headphones ready as they've suggested wearing them for some of the audio stuff they're doing. Listening to this music they've picked for the stay tuned screen and it sounds like a cross between Solar Fields and Mac Quayle's work from Mr. Robot. All aboard the hype train though!
  18. It's off topic obviously but with regards to Lockhart, if it is indeed happening, I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft repurposed the Xbox One X for the basis of what it'll be. That console can safely manage 1080p and in some cases 4K so seems like a good basis to work from, especially given the work that went into developing that chipset. Outfitting that with their SSD solution as is would probably be the easiest way to make lower cost next gen hardware that sticks to the architecture they and developers are accustomed to (would make scalability of games across Lockhart and XSX easier to handle as well). Obviously theres more to it than that but I could see them doing that as it would certainly keep the cost down on production and allow them to launch it at a price tag that was/is inline with the current pricing of the Xbox One X. Discontinue the older One variants and leave the One X as the sole last gen console they're selling (but give initial compatibility for first party games across the whole suite of One consoles for the first year or so in line with their plan) and re-market the One X as their "budget" hardware, Lockhart as the gateway to next gen and then Series X as the big budget, full bells and whistle hardware. That's my two cents anyway on it. Anyway, looking forward to the event later. From my perspective, I think I'm ready for new hardware. My PS4 has seen a lot of use since I got it for the original Destiny in 2014 and I'm tired of having to deal with the loudness of the thing when playing games now so I just want the new hardware and a better cooling solution (the easiest of which is to move the PSU outside the box but I get people don't want bulky plugs behind their setups at home). Obviously we'll find out more about the actual console and stuff later, its more about the games tonight and I'm just as excited to see the new Sony Worldwide Studios titles I'll be playing on the hardware, as well as seeing what third parties will bring to the table. I'm hoping for some big surprises and hoping that things don't start to leak (theres already something doing the rounds with regards to a leak of new merch for a particular IP that heavily hints towards a new entry in that franchise from a third party, that's as specific as I'll be so as not to spoil in the event its real). Should be a good showing though, with plenty for everyone that's for sure.
  19. I'm still expecting the price to fall at the £500 mark. Those listings on Amazon are obviously placeholders but even with cutting edge tech, I think in the current climate coming to market with a console at a £600 price tag before any games have been added to the cost could prove to be too much. Sony know this to their own cost with the launch of the PS3 and not getting the pricing right. So I'd be very surprised if it launched north of £500. The bigger question is whether they'll take a hit and a small loss on the console to get it on the market at a good price. It's clear that Microsoft are aiming to undercut Sony if they can on the cost to the consumer at market so will Sony play that game are stick to their own lane? We'll see, there are plenty of factors in how both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will be priced, but I imagine Sony will come out swinging regardless. I'm looking forward to seeing what they've got to show. I imagine they'll finally show the box, especially if the console is now hitting the production line. Game wise, sure we'll see Gran Turismo (the trademark on June 4th is too suspect to not be a new title) and there's too much talk for there not to be a Bloodborne and/or Demon Souls announcement (tho this might not be coming at launch going off of some comments that Imran Khan has made). We'll likely see Spiderman 2 and Horizon 2 but I think there will be a Ratchet and Clank title for launch. I'd love something completely new as well on top of some of these though. Sony have been good for that so hopefully that's what we'll get. Maybe that'll be Housemarque's new game which will undoubtedly be ready for launch and is looking like it'll be published by Sony. I did see that one of the writers of the Dead Space games is saying to tune in to something he's working on tomorrow. I wonder if, with the rumours of a new Silent Hill under Sony, whether that's what he'll be working on under the Worldwide Studios initiative given the horror pedigree there. We'll know in a little over 24 hours but I'm looking forward to it as there's going to be a lot of game announcements coming from the event that'll be next gen exclusive (not just first party but third party for both PS5 and XSX) from what I'm hearing so should give a strong indicator of what going next gen should be.
  20. The Itch.io deal I mentioned in the post above has doubled the number of games included in the bundle. There's now over 1400 games included, with Celeste being one of the new games being add. If you've already bought/donated, any new games added before the bundle deal finishes will be added to your library. It was already an insanely good deal for a good cause but this is just incredible. You could play a new game every day for near enough the next 4 years as it stands. Theres currently just over 5 and a half days left to grab the bundle and donate. Think I'll see if I can sort something up and free up a bit of money to make a donation as it's got a couple of things I'd forgotten about but was interested in a bit back (such as Visual Out).
  21. Not sure if many use it, but Itch.io are selling a massive bundle in for charity to raise funds for the Black Lives Matter movement. There's upwards of 700 games in the bundle, with a minimum donation of $5 netting you the lot and donations going to NAACP Defense and Education Fund and Community Bail Fund. Some of the highlights include games like Oxenfree, Astrologaster, A Short Hike and Night in the Woods to name a few. And of course with it being Itch.io, all games are DRM free. It's a hell of a bundle deal with enough games to keep anyone going for years. Tempted myself but money is a bit tight and would want to make more of a donation than the minimum so will have to see but the link's below if anyone is interested. https://itch.io/b/520/bundle-for-racial-justice-and-equality
  22. If you're fine with a more narrative focused game then I'd definitely recommend Edith Finch, especially if its inexpensive in the sale. You'll get through it in about 2 or so hours but I think it's definitely worth experiencing some of those sections at least once, particularly the canary section because of how well done it is and just how hard hitting it is. I replayed it earlier this year as really enjoyed going back to it. It was one of my favourite games of 2017 and after replaying, I'd still hold it in high regard.
  23. It's 100% the right call to make. It's a little disappointing but just taking a look at some of the comments under the tweet from Playstation shows just how important it is that the current societal issues be given the space to be discussed because things need to change as some people's mindsets are just completely missing the point of what's happening. Sony's marketing strategy really hasn't played out the best for the PS5 so far in that they've clearly been affected by global events that have forced them to change plans but we know that they'll have the goods to show when it comes time so a delay like this won't do anything to negatively impact what they're going for. If anything, it might mean that they revisit some of what they've got and expand on things down the line. That point may be the case especially if some of the announcements and events scheduled in the coming weeks take place and this event doesn't take place until after the launch of The Last of Us Part 2 (which I suspect will be the case now as trying to shoehorn it in between the dropping of reviews and the game's launch won't be ideal and the current events won't have gone away by then, nor should they as it's something that really needs to be addressed globally). We're going to be seeing next gen games from next week onwards and may even get some insight into them with magazine launches this week that have been touting next gen reveals of third party games so it might pull away from any of those announcements if they were to be included in Sony's event but, as I say, some additional expansion added in might help bridge that. Either way, it'll happen when it happens and until then, we've games aplenty to keep us going, other events are on the way for those wanting new game announcements but more importantly, we've got societal issues that need to be addressed and giving that the spotlight it needs right now is the most important thing and so kudos to Sony and others for taking that stance.
  24. Going by the info that 2K has released, it's only local splitscreen coop for 2 players and you can't carry that online. You can have up to 4 players in a party for online but each player needs to be playing on their own console, no splitscreen allowed there I'm afraid. I believe this was the same setup with the other console versions as well. I won't be able to test splitscreen myself as I'm playing a Switch Lite and don't have additional controllers (though I imagine playing splitscreen using the Switch's screen would make things really difficult to see what's going on) so sorry there.
  25. Yeah, I'm surprised that they haven't charged more for some of the games (though Borderlands 1 is £24.99 so there is that as an example but at least it's in parity with the pricing of the game on the other platforms). Very tempted to pick up Bioshock Infinite at £15.99, though I don't have space in my SD card now with having bought the Borderlands collection and I've got Xenoblade on the way. Must not spend more money on games... I've got Borderlands 1 installed (still shocked they didnt include all of the first game on the cart) and I'm currently downloading 2 and the Pre-Sequel. I might post some impressions later but from the quick go I had on 1, it runs well and looks good but that was always going to be the case as the first entry is the least demanding. The other two games will be the real test as I believe it's running at 30fps in 1 and I suspect that'll dip a bit with the later games, perhaps more so in handheld (which is how I'm playing and I have a Lite). My only gripe from that brief stint was something I've thought for awhile and that it's the analogue sticks on the Switch aren't made for FPS titles as they're not precise enough. I imagine that would be less of a problem with Bioshock as theres less need to be accurate for critical hits but in Borderlands it makes things a bit stiff and less accurate, the same experience I had with the Metro Redux games. These are definitely games that would benefit from the Pro controller (or any other controller than the sticks on the Lite/Joycons).
