I'm gonna day one this for sure! Got it on Steam around Xmas, put in a decent amount of hours but once it was rumoured for the Switch I stopped playing. Such an incredible game, and N-E nights should really be great fun.

We've always more or less retained the same core of members though, sure people come and go but the community still has its key members
I'm sure GAF will stick around, will be interesting to see what becomes of it. But ResetEra is where its at now. Saw a couple of posts by the GameXplain crew, hopefully more of tge industry types have migrated with them and the better aspects of GAF will be retained over there in the long run.

Yep, I plan on raising my kids from the NES onwards. None of this iPad crap. It's a process. A process from which true appreciation grows

I don't think I've ever put this much time into gaming since I had an N64 and zero responsibility. I feel bad sometimes looking at how many hours I've sunk into my Switch, but then I realise it's ok, because a golden age is well and truly upon us and I'll look back fondly when Nintendo inevitibly balls-up their next console

Love your photos, @Nicktendo, especially the last one.
Was this the song you were talking about?
I absolutely love it.
That's the one! I'm loving this new direction Nintendo have been taking on this and with Splatoon. Long live lyrics in Nintendo music!

Just seen the credits roll...
SpoilerI actually wasn't too hot on the game when I first started and had finished a couple of worlds. Unlike Zelda, I didn't find myself playing endlessly for hours on end, I played for an hour, did something else and then picked it up again for a bit. Everything about the game is great, don't get me wrong, but as I posted on the staff boards yesterday it didn't quite grab me in the same way Zelda did, and it didn't FEEL like a real 10/10 in the way Zelda did.
Having just beaten Bowser, I might have to readjust my thoughts a bit, that was, hands down, one of the finest moments in gaming history! The whole setting on the moon, the different gravity and the final boss itself was just sensational. The song towards the end of the Bowser section, anyone?! I'm not a huge fan of the Galaxy games, even though I adored the music and the setting, I felt they were lacking a little something that had made 64 and Sunshine so great (maybe I was just a bit older :P). 3D World, I liked, especially the stuff closer to the end of the game and Bowser's castle, but again, most of the time, as with the start of Odyssey, I felt like I was "going through the motions" so to speak.
Until I got to the moon (which I managed after only 9 or so hours, 155 moons), the only real standout moment of this game had been New Donk City's DK section. Now I'm looking forward to the post-game! Especially after arriving in the Mushroom Kingdom. I don't know where this game will end up ranking in comparison with the rest, but I do already prefer it to Galaxy 1&2 and 3D World. Not sure if thus far I would genuinely call it a 10/10 in the same way Zelda was for me, but I'm excited to find out what's around the corner.
Also, costumes and photo mode are without a doubt my favourite additions to the series!
I also had some left Joy-Con issues with this. First time for me. I much preferred to play with the pro controller, and was actually able to pull of moves easier with it!

The problem is that Splatoon 2 was released. ARMS needed more breathing room to be allowed to grow but once Splatoon 2 arrived it was pretty much game over. Had it had a chance to stand on its own I think it would have done a lot better. Even before it was released I seen many saying they weren't bothering with it as they were just holding off until Splatoon arrived.
Yeah, that's why I didn't pick it up at launch. I only did so because I had an Amazon voucher. It's a shame, but they must've expected it putting them so close together. I just don't know if there's much point, from a financial standpoint, in continuing to support a game with a low player base. Unless of course the content is already largely ready to go.

Regarding ARMS, I think the Q2 sales are pretty disappointing. Seems it didn't have the... LEGS (sorry) one might have hoped.
I remember the board being really into it on release, then it dropped off completely. I picked it up at the same time as Splatoon 2, and obviously largely ignored it. After getting burned out by Splatoon 2, I took it for a spin and it is a fantastic game. Easily one of the most unique and rewarding fighters I've played in a long time. I'm getting to grips with it now and trying out different characters (Twintelle is my main). I'm still surprised by the depth and how each fighter is drastically different from the rest. Yes, it's lacking in content a bit (still), even if the online is up there with Nintendo's best efforts.
Here's what I'd do with the game: keep releasing content (maybe at a quicker pace), keep updating the roster, add a couple of new modes / stages / options, integrate the online app for stats and voice chat and that will keep the early adopters happy and the community playing. Then, on update 6 / 7, whatever we're on during a quiet patch next year, re-release the game with new packaging and a $10/£10 price drop, with the latest version on the cartridge. A little marketing campaign could push it further, and they could highlight the fact the game is packed with content, which was one of the main criticisms on launch. The game deserves to be played by more people and I am APPALLED that 1-2 Switch managed to out-sell it.

1-2 Switch doing 1.37 millions units must have made them an absolute killing when you consider it probably cost about a fiver to produce.

Put me down for WARM.
Nothing beats a good fry up on a Sunday morning.
I should be good to play Saturday evening and all day Sunday.

Judging by the speed things are moving and updating on ResetEra, I think it's safe to say GAF is probably dead.

Yes, that level is the best from Splatoon on Wii U. Time to get back into this I think!

Higher and higher we go! Two games have 11 points and share joint 34th place, and both are classics that would go on to redefine their respective genres and spin series that are loved and respected by many, many gamers all over the world!

More games? More games. Let's talk about games. About the TOP games. As voted for by our now ever more so appreciated community of gamers.
I'm going to put my serious hat on now, because we are talking about some top games which amassed 10 points and are tied in 36th place. 10 points is a special number, because two of our members voted these games as their favourite, all time best Nintendo games of all time, ever. High praise. Unfortunately, they were alone in this high praise, but if someone on N-E says it's the best, it's a damn good game! Let's check them out....

I've already seen some people in my friends list playing this. Looks like the game is definitely out there already... I'm probably not going to get it until early November as games never seem to arrive in Russia on release day, it's usually 3-5 days after release that stores get them.
I was considering getting it on Amazon digitally but you can't not get a new Mario game physically! I'll bear out the wait.
I see some spoilers have already been doing the rounds... But it's a Mario game, can we really call them spoilers?? Either way I'd ask you guys to be considerate with talking about later in-game content even after Friday. The eye icon is you friend

I'll be genuinely sad if this is the end for GAF. Even though I never post there, I often lurk and find the majority of the discussion genuinely interesting. Outside of gaming, the posts especially during Brexit and the General Election were awesome, informative and genuinely amusing at times.
Despite that though, there is a massive problem with toxicity, there are some truly awful posters, just the worst kind of people. Especially when it comes to discussion around journalism and the gaming media or personalities. The amount of people white knighting and shutting down any kind of discussion is awful. It's like twitter on drugs.
If it is the end, I'll definitely miss the gifs and the memes. Espcially the "lock if..." OPs and the "first reply nailed it" ones. Plus, it really is one of the best places to find in depth and fast moving discussion. Reddit doesn't quite cut it for me in that regard.

I also noticed that in the friend's list play times are now broken up into one hour increments for the first 10 hours and then in increments of five like before.
Baby steps are better than no steps, I suppose.

Yes.
Tied in 57th place with 7 points we have:
SpoilerDonkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U)
Mario Kart 64 (N64)
Mario Kart DS (NDS)
Pilotwings (SNES)
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS (3DS)
And now we're getting into the nitty-gritty.
Introducing the games worthy of TOP-50 status. Coming in at joint 45th place with a fairly respectable 8 points we have... the first answer to the question, "which is (not) the best 3D Mario game of all time. Also, the game with the worst title of all time, arguably one of the most influential games of the past 20 years, and finally a game I can guarantee* no-one has ever played on original hardware (you filthy pirates!).
*Probably, but not 100%

Third party AAA games on Switch - A lost cause?
in Nintendo Gaming

Rockstar just lost a sale. No dice. If they can't stump up for a bigger cart, I'm not gonna stump up for an old game at an inflated price. Bethesda get all my money.
