  1. Game Boy Color. I started when I was about 9 or 10 years old after one trip where I saw someone playing Pokemon Red on their Game Boy and they let me have a go as long as I didn't save the file over. Really liked what I played so wanted to get the game myself. Then one day on a shopping trip I got a Game Boy Color and Pokemon Red as a special gift and the rest was history. Sadly I no longer have my Game Boy Color as I swapped it for a GBA due to it being able to also play Game Boy Color games and have since got a Gamecube, DS, Wii, 3DS and Wii U. Probably will get a Switch too but I'll probably wait for a price drop as I'm not keen on getting consoles on their launch dates anymore unlike with the Wii (or at least, I tried with the Wii, but they were all sold out so I had to wait another two months before I got that, meanwhile I got Twilight Princess as a Christmas present on Wii just so that I had a game as a holdover, so technically Twilight Princess was my first Wii game, even before Wii Sports).
  2. Surprised no one has posted these yet... not even Serebii. Nintendo's official Youtube channel has started posting some Pokemon Sun/Moon related stuff. First of all, this looks like the TV/Youtube advert: Secondly, they're kicking off Pokemon Month throughout this month, with the first feature being a Nintendo Minute with Masuda and Ormori:
  3. Meloetta is going to be the last one by the looks of it. I suspect the order was swapped because by the time Meloetta is available for download in X, Y, OR and AS then Sun/Moon will be out and chances are people won't be playing Gen VI by that point, they'll either have finished Sun/Moon and be doing post-game stuff or if they got the game a bit later on they will still be playing through the main campaign.
  4. Could this be what Litten looks like after that moment?
  5. Yeah, that's a fair point, the large file size could result in the 3DS taking ages to load the home menu and being unable to run Miiverse or the internet browser at the same time. I know Prime Federation Force has support for Miiverse Screenshots on the normal 3DS but that game's file size is probably miles smaller. But with the knowledge that the original 3DS can do Miiverse screenshots in the current firmware update that was what made me hopeful that Sun/Moon could do it too.
  6. Maybe I'm a bit old fashioned, but I still prefer having boxed copies over digital ones for my console games. If the game is digital only then that's fine but I would rather not waste SD Card space for a game when I can just pop it in the cartridge instead and save all that space for something that actually needs it like Virtual Console games or Indie downloadable titles. I appreciate why X/Y didn't have it, but since the new 3DS came out literally every 3DS game has full Miiverse Support including screenshots. It's pretty much commonplace in today's world now for the player to be able to take screenshots and videos of the games they are playing and then be able to share them on social media with nothing more than the console itself, ie, without the need for the kind of equipment that @Serebii has used for years.
  7. I'm surprised that's even a page on the official site... ...on another note, only just under three weeks until Sun/Moon are out now. Wonder if they will be compatible with Miiverse screenshots? Planning on screenshotting my team and giving progress updates on this thread after the game comes out, and using Miiverse would give a cleaner screenshot for that sort of thing than a phone camera shot ever would.
  8. Looks like the new Train On trailer that came out today has confirmed that Charjabug evolves at Level 40. That's quite a high level for evolution for a bug type that you can get towards the beginning of the game if Grubbin is even available that early. Also apparently Decidueye is based on a Stilt Owl, which are now extinct in Hawaii.
  9. Wonder where they got the name "Decidueye" from anyway. I can't immediately see the relation to owls or archers off hand and the only thing that stands out is the "dueye" part.
  10. Never mind what I was saying about a 4x Ice weakness for Rowlet. It still has it but it's the final form that would get used competitively and while Grass/Ghost isn't a new type (Gourgeist and Trevenant) it's certainly a lot better than Grass/Flying as a type combo. If it can learn Roost then it would have a free recovery move too. It also makes so much more sense why Rowlet's first level up move is Astonish if it's going to eventually become a Ghost type. Kind of expected a signature move from Decidueye which involved it firing an arrow but didn't expect that move to be Ghost type and effectively be like Mean Look (though it probably is something that only works for a few turns). However, Game Freak missed a massive opportunity to call this thing Robinhoot. I'll wait and see what the name origin for it is though. It's a shame these were leaked all the way back in June but it's still nice to see them in action and actually have names for them that aren't "Owl3", "Tiger3" and "Sealion3"
  11. So....
  12. Nintendo Executive A: Well our two best selling franchises are Mario and Pokemon how can we take advantage of this? Nintendo Executive B: I know, let's make a Mario Pikachu! Nintendo Executive A: Great idea. Let's make a Luigi one too. It IS still the year of Luigi right?
  13. I'll probably still keep my Wii U hooked up though, so long as there are games I need to finish. I'm finding as an adult that my time spent finishing games is a lot slower than it was when I was a kid. I have Golden Sun, Xenoblade X, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy X and Metroid Prime Federation Force on the "still to finish" list.
  14. BBC don't often give positive vibes to Nintendo in their Tech news, sometimes they seem to pretend that their consoles don't even exist except in these cases. Really liking this new direction that the console's going in. There will be concerns of course over the fact that the console is still underpowered compared to the PS4 and Xbox One but I think this time the fact that it can be taken on the go is good. The 3DS was essentially a handheld Wii and the Switch is effectively an HD handheld that can also be played at home, playing to Nintendo's strengths on the handheld market while also giving them some footing in the home console market. Time will tell how it fares but I think it looks very promising. And yeah, I don't think we'd get a mainline Pokemon game on it until Gen 8.
  15. Critical time for Nintendo this now. Let's see if they can make their console appeal to something that a mass public who is quick to jump down their throats can get on board with. Willing to believe the much rumoured console-handheld hybrid is true, just be curious to see how they've gone about it.
  16. Never mind, I forgot that all Bird Pokemon can counter their Ice weaknesses if they know Steel Wing. Since Steel is good against Ice. I remember teaching my Serperior in White 2 Iron Tail as a way for it to counter Ice types for a similar reason.
  17. Can't see much that it could learn to counter Ice types. Most Flying types don't get many moves to counter their Ice weaknesses anyway, the only one I know of is Staraptor with Close Combat. Catching a Rockruff, Minior, Crabrawler or a Stufful might be the best way to protect it. Rockruff counters many of Rowlet's weaknesses (Fire, Flying, Ice) while if it gets a Ground type move like Dig or Earthquake (please be able to learn Earthquake) it can also counter Electric and Rock. If Rowlet/Dartrix/whatever the last guy is called can learn Rock Smash I suppose you could upgrade it to All-Out Pummeling as a way of dealing with Fighting types but that's about it for individual coverage against Ice moves. So yeah, I guess the hope is that the hidden ability is Thick Fat but the Starter's hidden abilities tend to be aligned with their final evolution's themes. EDIT: Never mind that last sentence, looks like that was just for the Kalos starters.
  18. GTS is probably your best bet for getting the other starters, unless they do what they did in X/Y where you get given the starter of one of your rivals after you've beaten the game. So for instance if you picked Chespin, Shauna gives you a Froakie in your home town after you've become Champion as part of an in-game trade where she'll accept anything you have. Similarly, if you picked Froakie, she'd have Fennekin and if you picked Fennekin she'd have Chespin I did that to get Froakie in Y and then used GTS to get a Fennekin. Then evolved both to their final forms to help fill up the Pokedex. It especially helped with the seen page because in X/Y you never get the first stage starter added to your Pokedex that's owned by Calem/Serena, by the time you have a tag team battle against Team Flare it's already Quilladin/Braixen/Frogadier. The feature that let's you request Pokemon you haven't seen in your Pokedex in Gen 6 on GTS was Super useful and really helped me see every Pokemon in the Kalos dex. I imagine that will return for Sun/Moon so you can get access to the others. I'm avoiding the datamining leaks like the plague but assuming that what the concept art leaked ages ago are the actual starter final evolutions. There's too much evidence for there not to be imo and if datamining has confirmed that (some people's reactions outside spoiler tags suggest so), cool, been really hoping that Rowlet's final evo as depicted in those leaks is real, might become one of my new favourite Pokemon.
  19. Yeah, especially when you consider that there are shoulder buttons that have no use in the overworld. We should be allowed to rotate the camera using those. I suppose it's one of those things though when a 2D studio goes 3D and doesn't quite pick up on everything it needs to do when jumping into the 3D space. Generally prefer analogue stick camera control to shoulder buttons though as the latter can take a bit of getting used to, but if you have no second analogue stick (well, on the original 3DS anyway) then shoulder buttons are probably the next best thing. Anyway, found extended versions of the Team Skull Encounter Theme, Battle Theme and Kukui's theme on Youtube.
  20. @Serebii has probably already done it, but just on the 1% chance that he hasn't, here are the dates that you can trigger the additional events on by talking to certain people, assuming you're playing the demo on the day it came out. Man outside Poke Center – 19th October Woman on corner – 23rd October Pikachu birthday – 30th October Policeman – 6th November Woman in ferry terminal – 12th November
  21. Decided to screenshot the stats of some of the Pokemon in the catching tutorial if anyone's interested:
  22. Not even got Poke Balls yet. I'm taking my sweet time on this demo and trying to discover everything I can about it... Found a wild Rockruff and started testing for it's moves. So far I know Rockruff can use Bite, Odor Sleuth and Howl. All very appropriate moves for a dog and wolf...
  23. Randomly letting some opposition Pokemon attack me to see what kind of moves they can use. So far I've learned that Pikipek can use Pluck and Yungoos can learn Bite... that's about it. I also found a wild Pikachu in the grass in the city. Not sure if that's where you'll be able to find them in the full game, but might be worth looking there. Unfortunately I didn't have any Poke Balls to catch them with.
  24. Been having a look at the Greninja that you get given. It's OT is Ash, it's date met it 17th October 2013 which is the date where the anime episode that introduced Ash's Froakie was met was aired in Japan, the one I was given has a Hardy Nature and it's moveset is Water Shuriken, Aerial Ace, Double Team and Night Slash. Basically the same moveset that Ash's Greninja has in the anime expect with Night Slash instead of Cut.
