http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=124847&page=34 for proof that Nintendo have diverted OUR European component cables to the USA. All wii accessory packaging in America is usually in plastic blister packs. Now Nintendo of America have proudly announced that they are now fulfilling all back orders for the cables. Some US Wii owners have recieved their cables in the EUROPEAN CARDBOARD PACKAGING complete with alternate language text on the box. It is clear that these were the cables that was supposed to be on sale next Friday. -

LOOKS LIKE NINTENDORK OWES ME AN APOLOGY Nintendo UK has today announced it will officially partner with HMV when it launches its new console, Wii, at midnight on 7th/8th December 2006. The action kicks off from 11pm at HMV, 150 Oxford Street, London with the chance for everyone to come down and play launch game Wii Sports against top sporting celebrities including Ian Wright, Jodie Kidd, Pat Cash and Ricky Hatton. Wii is already shaping up to be the most hotly anticipated console launch ever seen in the UK with Amazon.co.uk recently revealing that pre-orders for Wii on its site ‘sold out’ within seven minutes of them being made available, making it the fastest-selling pre-order it has ever listed. In addition, retailers including Comet, Dixons and GAME have already announced that Wii is expected to be one of their top selling items this Christmas and demand is already expected to exceed supply. Those getting there early enough in the queue will be lucky enough to get their hands on their very own Wii consoles, games and goodie bags just in time for Christmas. Stocks are limited so get there early to avoid disappointment. In addition, the first 200 people purchasing the critically acclaimed launch title The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for Wii will receive a very special strictly limited edition The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess tin to store the game. Wii launches across Europe on 8th December 2006 at the estimated retail price of €249/£179 with Wii Sports game including Tennis, Bowling, Boxing, Golf and Baseball included in the box. Included with every Wii console is one wireless Wii Remote, a Nunchuk, Wii Sports game, Stereo AV Cable and the sensor bar for Wii’s unique control system. Click onto http://www.Wii.com for all of the most up to date official information on Wii. As this is now OFFICIAL, lets use this thread to discuss meetups, travel arrangements and media.

The european Wii launch is looking to be a MESS
darthbane2k replied to darthbane2k's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Well the signal is still only going to be composite, so im unsure as to why it seems better. Your RGB Scart cable for the gamecube wont work on the wii - different plug im afraid. -
The classic controller both looks and feels awesome. Only problem is that it doesnt support rumble and it doesnt work with gamecube games. I really cannot fathom having my wired gamecube controller stretch from the top of the wii and across the room to my sofa, or have that ugly ass wavebird reciever on display.

Yes that would work. However it would sill only output a composite signal. It would not be true RGB scart. -

Here we go, defend the almighty Nintendork again.. The instance is the same because when I said I had official word that the official Wii launch would be held in HMV Oxford St at midnight, Nintendork basicly accused me of talking bullshit and insisted that it was to be in Birmingham and Edinbrough. He continued to attempt to belittle me and flame me, and I challenged to call CAKE media (Nintendos PR people) and even gave him a contact name (Stephanie) and telephone number (02073073100) Unsurprisingly, he declined to do so. As for the shortages of wii software. There is no official statement per se, just ask many of the retailers and they will confirm what titles will be in short supply. Like I said, theres nothing to panic about regarding zelda (although it will be limited, if not due to its inevitable popularity), its Wiiplay that will be hard to get. -

darthbane2k replied to darthbane2k's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I dont have to answer to your pathetic demands just as you didnt have the balls to call CAKE media to confirm that Oxford St HMV would host the official Wii launch. But, accessories seem to be in short supply world wide http://www.playwii.com/?p=98&sid=cea0e8841ca078a3941c094018577884 http://digg.com/gaming_news/Wii_mote_Nun_chuk_Shortages -

darthbane2k replied to darthbane2k's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Calm down junior.. Im sure Zelda will be obtainable. It WILL be in limited supply at launch according to retailers, but I assume that means there wont be 1:1 copies of zelda per wii system available. It was the same in the USA. But im sure with a little effort, you will find it easily. Its Wiiplay that is severly limitied. Im disappointed about that. And no, although I will buy zelda, I REFUSE to play it in composite. -

1) The RGB cable wont fit in your Wii - different plug 2) The Official Wii RGB Scart cable has also been delayed along with the component cable. Looks like its Composite for all. -
The european Wii launch is looking to be a MESS
darthbane2k replied to darthbane2k's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Right, so because I want the Wii to be released this side of christmas, I must accept playing it with a truly awful picture and playing Zelda even though most of the text will be illegable. The fact of the matter is that RGB cables and Component cables are reasonably simplistic to manufacture. Nintendo should have been better prepared. If Im going to have the whole family around the large TV at christmas time, I dont want them to be squinting at the screen. And forget about trying to use the Opera Browser via composite! -

A silly thing to do? Why? It clears up rumour and innuendo -and backs up claims with FACT and EVIDENCE, official verification from an OFFICIAL source. -
The european Wii launch is looking to be a MESS
darthbane2k replied to darthbane2k's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Whatever makes you feel better... But for those of us who like to face REALITY, no it ISNT an unfounded guess. Its a confirmed fact. Thats why all of OUR component cables originally bound for europe on 8th December wont mysteriously be available under 22nd December. Check any other nintendo forum, avforums or thedvdforums.co.uk. Or for extra verification, do what I did - ring Nintendo UK and ask them directly. -
The european Wii launch is looking to be a MESS
darthbane2k replied to darthbane2k's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Right, so because the necessity of component cables doesnt affect Yoshiking, it ISNT a problem right? And no the absence of component cables alone doesnt mess up the launch, but the other factors do 1) The delay of RGB Scart cables 2) The fact that ALL component cables intended for the european launch were diverted to america 3) The fact that retailers are reporting shortages of Zelda, and SEVERE shortages of Wiiplay 4) The fact that extra nunchucks will be severly limited 5) The fact that retailers have been told to expect a shortage of wii that does not meet their initial expectation of allocations Granted, these things do not RUIN the launch of wii, but they surely MESS things up. -

Oh just f**k off Nintendork - I cannot stand your bullshit any more, you are a complete arsehole. Your sarcastic remarks lack any wit and you are merely an attention seeking diva. You are like a moth to a flame ,whenever I speak - whenever I launch a thread - you are there ready to troll, ready to flame. YES I phone organisatons to VERIFY the infomation that has been provided to me. Irrespective of your lame attempts to disregard everything I have said, OFFICIAL sources have backed up each and every one of my comments. 1) You claim n-europe claim that the official nintendo midnight wii launch events will be at Gamestation in Birmingham and Edinborough - I claim London. I mean why any company would choose THOSE cities over the capital is beyond me. I had HMV Oxford Street CONFIRM that they were hosting the OFFICIAL Nintendo event, and I had Nintendo verify this. I also had Nintendos PR people Cake Media verify this too who catagorically stated that "THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH WILL BE IN LONDON" , yet Nintendork continued to try and belittle me. I freaking well put Cake medias phone number on a thread and challenged Nintendork to call up and verify my infomation. he declined to do so - wonder why?! 2) HMV suck (although I didnt use that word) because I placed a pre order for a wii with a £30 deposit at the end of september, yet didnt let any customers know where they stood with those orders until a week before launch. I didnt think this was acceptable and any sane person would agree that my concerns were reasonable. 3) Yes it does suck that RGB Scart cables and component cables are not available at launch. Just because you are happy to play your Wii with a shitty blurry composite picture, doesnt mean others are. I want to be able to at least read the text on zelda clearly, so I dont think the requirement of these standard cables at launch is an unreasonable one. What I do think is unreasonable is Nintendos decision to send all Component cables originally bound for europe to the USA just to settle THEIR demand. WHAT ABOUT OUR DEMAND??!! 4) The only reason you have a problem with me Nintendork is because I seem to be the only person on this forum who has the balls to speak out over your attention seeking bullshit. Im not going to take any ish from you nor am I going to allow you to flame me. I stand up against idiots like you while the others play 'follow the leader'. THAT'S THE DARTHBANE2K-DIFFERENCE. This isnt a case of SD Vs HD. You people claim that HDTV owners are being unreasonable and that if they wanted HD graphics they should get a 360 or PS3. Thats what I mean, IT ISNT A CASE OF THIS AT ALL. its a case of component cables being ESSENTIAL for HDTV owners to in many cases get a legiable picture/text on screen. SD looks worse on HDTV than SD looks on a SDTV fact, unless component or progressive scan is used. Its you who is playing dumb, pretending not to understand this difference. -

Dont mean to be too anal, but its also a little messy for SDTV owners as they wont have RGB Scart cables (these too have been delayed) RGB Scart >>>>>>>VERY MUCH>>>>>>>Composite I hardly think a composite video signal can be described as "bloody awesome" -

Oh lord!, does that mean that we are going to cross paths??!! (I kid..) Anyhow the last central line tube from oxford station is at 12.35am Night buses run right through - should not really be a problem on a Thursday. But depends really how long the event drags on for and how many people there are in line in front of you. -
