Strange Cookie Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Curiosity kills the cat, but then again I'm a cookie, no cat. There are several 2-disc GC-games, like Resident Evil 4, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, Killer 7, etc. etc. We all know the Wii is backward compatible. However, with these games, won't there be a problem when trying to boot up the second disc on Wii? With the Gamecube, you can switch discs without shutting down the system. You see the message "Insert disc 2", open the Gamecube, insert disc 2 and close it again. No problem! But won't the Wii reset itself when you press "eject" in order to take disc 1, hence losing the opportunity to boot up the second disc? Unless you can save when you should switch discs, but I can't recall if that's the case. Any clever minds outthere?
Cube Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 When in "GameCube mode" the Wii will not reset itself. 2-disc games are fine, and action replay will sortof work, too.
Nintendork Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Welcome to the forums, you don't think Nintendo would cut support for 90% of their best Cube games would you? Killer7, Resident Evil.. Twin Snakes. Hell no.
Kurtle Squad Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Why would it reset itself when u eject?
Nintendork Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Why would it reset itself when u eject? There was a rumour that the firmware for the disc drive sent signals to the OS to return to the Wii menu instead of prompting for the second disc. Either way it's not a problem.
Strange Cookie Posted November 27, 2006 Author Posted November 27, 2006 OK, thanks for the quick replies! My worries have been laid to rest. Yes, I now recall Freeloader working on Wii. I should have figured it out then, but I why have brains when you have fora? Welcome to the forums Thanks! I'm not exactly new the N-europe, though. I go way back to N64-Europe, but I have this strange tendency to change names. Very often. But you're welcome! Why would it reset itself when u eject? Well, almost every console does it, with the exceptions of the original Playstation and Gamecube (maybe more?). Think Xbox(360). When you eject, you go back to the main system menu.
