darthbane2k Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 As I am in the UK, I dont get Wii until December 8th. I have been considering how to hook it up to my TV, which is running out of ports. I will use phono spiltters to double my component inputs and will use phono splitters again to double my analog audio inputs on my amp (as the wii is dolby pro logic 2 compliant). However splitting the audio inputs and sharing them between the wii and say a secondary DVD player concerns me. Its not a problem if you use one device at a time, but I hear the Wii stays on constantly. Does this mean it is outputting sound constantly? (eg when on the wii channel menu?) can someone clarify this?
DCK Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Why would it make sound in standby mode? All but network hardware will be closed down in standby mode. No worries about sound.
Nintendork Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Stupid question, just turn off your Wii if you are that bothered. Not that I expect it to make sound in standby anyway (as DCK says).
darthbane2k Posted November 21, 2006 Author Posted November 21, 2006 Why would it make sound in standby mode? All but network hardware will be closed down in standby mode. No worries about sound. I assumed it went into a powersaving mode but kept the wii channels menu running, which as you know has background ambience sound.
Nintendork Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 That is not standby, standby actually powers down the sound/video output, it literally only keeps the operating system and network software running.
Nards Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Mm, I don't leave mine on. Only cause I'm having wireless problems ;O I don't think theres any sound at all in standby...the remote even shuts itself off ^^ if you have Gamecube or another console hooked up..just replace it with Wii? 8-)
darthbane2k Posted November 21, 2006 Author Posted November 21, 2006 Thanks for the help guys - will get those phono splitters now. ONLY TWO WEEKS TO GO!
Jackster Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I suppose it's like when your Sky box is in standby mode, it shuts down everything except the OS and Networking (incase there are any firmware updates).
