Sarka Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Well, my family have decided to jump aboard the HDTV train! We've whittled our choices down to three, and here they are (cheapest - for us - first): Sharp LC32GD8E JVC LT32DR7SJ Samsung LE32N73BDX The prices are in about the same range (we have a supplier through my Dad's work to get them) which is between £661.38 and £830. So, really - price doesn't really come into the equation too much. Are any of these much better than the others, any reasons why and the such. All advice appreciated, thanks!
Raining_again Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 We have a 32 inch Samsung, its freakin amazing. Have you tried scouting around internet sites for reviews, they can sometimes help.
Sarka Posted November 2, 2006 Author Posted November 2, 2006 The general vibe that I get form Samsung users and reviews is that, to put it simply, "IT'S REALLY GREAT!". The Sharp seems to be good value for money, and it is good apart from HD performance. My Mum looked at the JVC and was disgusted at it's look, so we won't be getting that. To be honest, out family won't get a HD-DVD player for a good long time, and won't be getting a PS3 or 360. So is good HD performance really that necessary? We don't have Sky either, so I was wondering whether freeview will be getting many (if any) HD channels? As that is the most likely thing we'll be using it for. (Apart from a monitor, woop!)
CompSci Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 We have a 32 inch Samsung, its freakin amazing. yes the samsung 32R7/n series is awesome, in conjunction with the 360 @720p look absolutely fantastic, however if you are using sky thru RGB the pic quality is so so,
McPhee Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 The Samsung, without a doubt the best mid-range HDTV manufacturer. Almost up there with the top end of Panasonic/Pioneer/Philips!
Charlie Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 To be honest, out family won't get a HD-DVD player for a good long time, and won't be getting a PS3 or 360. As that is the most likely thing we'll be using it for. (Apart from a monitor, woop!) If you're going to get a HDTV you want it to be perfect as you're spending so much money on it. There's no point in paying £600 now when a few years down the line you've got a HD-DVD player and haven't got the perfect picture.
Sarka Posted November 5, 2006 Author Posted November 5, 2006 Ok, thanks for all the advice. We're ordering a Samsung as soon as my Mum gets back from wherever she is. Thanks! Edit: Order'd!
Jon Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Ive got the 26" Sammy in my room and my mum has the 42" downstairs. Great combination of features for the price.
