Sarka
(Sorry for the awful title but I couldn't think of one..) Ok, when I start up my computer many many programs start up. Just general stuff like MSN, Ares, Skype etc. I was wonderding if I can somehow change which ones start up at start up? I'm using Windows XP btw. Bogbas
run --> msconfig --> startup tab, select the ones that you want to start. This is a bad way though, as when you manually run the program it probably just adds itself to startup. Better way is to go to each programs settings and configure them not to start on system start. Calza
Usally there will be a option in each program that lets you tick it started up straight away or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and i think you just delete the shortcuts but i'm not sure EDIT : Good Timing Bogbas
That Guy
Isn't there a 'Start up' folder in the all programs part of the Start menu. Drag an application into the folder, then a program starts up when Windows does. Hope that helps.
Bogbas
Well the easiest option to get a program ran is to use the startup folder. But not many programs use it. They like to set a registry key. And you can delete it manually but messing with the registry isn't actually something that can be recommended. So the msconfig way is safer. Marshmellow
instead of doing that you could buy more ram... and then you win both ways, faster computer, and all your stuff is loaded!
