Pestneb Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 My old monitor is not up to the job anymore, there's a yellow patch... it's 4:3 ratio, and the picture is very washed out. So I'm looking for a new secondary monitor, I'm not looking for top spec because tbh this is just a small purchase, but looking at a couple of screens for about £150.. wondering what you guys think of these two: http://www.amazon.co.uk/AOC-E2770SHE-Widescreen-Monitor-1920x1080/dp/B00G51XHNK/ref=sr_1_16?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1415216929&sr=1-16&keywords=monitor and http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GL2760H-inch-Wide-Monitor/dp/B00HZF2ME0/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1414880564&sr=8-13&keywords=monitor really tbh I'd like a higher resolution but I don't want to spend too much... my current screen is about 1280*1024 (not it's native resolution!), 17"/43cm so either of those screens will feel like a nice upgrade anyway. The main reason I'm posting this is that I haven't bought a new screen for 7 years so I was hoping I could draw on the experience of those who hopefully are more knowledgable/recently experienced with all of this...

I'm curious on which monitor you went with, if any, as I'm currently looking to buy a new monitor. This one looks decent: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/desktop-pc-monitors/monitor-projectors/pc-monitors/samsung-ls27d590-full-hd-27-led-monitor-22070270-pdt.html#longDesc
Pestneb Posted March 15, 2015 Author Posted March 15, 2015 neither, I got a very cheap Acer G276HLA which was on offer at the time, 27". The viewing angle on it is crap but aside from that I'm happy enough with it. It's become my primary monitor with my tv/wii U screen becoming the secondary.
arab_freak Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 For an extra £20 or so you can buy an IPS monitor. You get much better color accuracy and viewing angles, and honestly, you won't want to go back to anything else. Either way the ones you linked to are pretty good. Here's the one I have: http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-27EA33V-27-inch-IPS-Monitor/dp/B00APUP1D6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1426510166&sr=8-2&keywords=LG+ips+27
