I was going to put this in the general Kickstarter thread, but how often do you get the chance to start a new thread about a (potential) new NES game? (Also, where the hell is the NES icon?)

Another Kickstarter which looks too good to pass up.

A little bit more info:

The kickstarter is for the game as well as a documentary about making a new NES game. If it wasn´t clear, this is a game on an actual NES cartridge, not just a ROM. There will also be a PC version on the actual cartridge, which you can connect through USB, and you can play both versions in parallel.

I´ll wait until next month, but I´m definitely going to pledge. But the Kickstarter is doing just great without me it seems.

Just got round to watching the video - a very interesting concept. I'd have to wonder though...how much of a market is there for the NES aspect? Having said that I imagine they might still make the NES part playable on PC, but haven't said that. Especially given there'll be a whole lot of digital distro, too. I might see what happens come payday this week and give a pledge.

Apparently, not much. You disappoint me N-Europe. Except for you, Rummy.

Haha, yeah surprised at the lack of interest. I spose it's due to not many actually having NESes(one of the few Ninty consoles I never had, starting off with SNES/GB). Something for @Happenstance and crew that own the Retron thingies? Does the Retron do NES?

Yeah I never even bothered looking in this thread. Kickstarter interest has dropped way down for me. It is interesting though, kind of like when Halo was made for the Atari 2600. I still have my original NES and as @Rummy mentioned, the Retron 5 (which yes does play NES games) so I'll probably keep an eye on it.

If I had hardware capable of actually playing it, I'd probably back it to the point of a physical copy just for the experience. It's not that they're making a NES like/NES tribute game, they're making an actual NES game, with all the constraints and whatnot that go with it. I think having the games and the documentary will be quite an experience in itself - I think a lot of gamers, especially these days, are deftly unaware(myself included to a point) of quite how hard it was to make games back in the day just due to technical constraints. Gives some excellent byproducts though - Mario's moustache is one, is it not? I love stuff like that.

Yeah, I looked into it a little bit, but making games for the NES (and other computers with the same chip) didn´t involve a fancy high-level programming language like Basic, it was a hardcore assembly language. Now, things were simpler then, but this still make things a bit abstract.. It did give me some insight into how things were done back then, and makes me want to try my hand at Petit computer for the DSi again.
