Dog-amoto Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Ok, so I just got a new 3DS XL with Zelda ALBW and I wanted to download from the eShop. I did a system transfer, everything worked fine, my new 3DS behaves like my old one, but it said I needed to use my old SD card in my new system. But it's only a 2GB one, and I want to use the 4GB one I got in the new system. As I've downloaded Animal Crossing, I do not have enough space to get Zelda downloaded. I am aware I can redownload all my stuff from eShop, including the Ambassador titles I've got, but how to I transfer my save data from one card to another? Including all my StreetPass plaza data Is it just a simple case of dragging and dropping in onto your desktop and then copying it to the new SD card on your computer (bear in mind I don't have a SD card reader on my computer and will need to go to a friend's to do it) If so, what was the purpose of the system transfer? Is it just simply to transfer the DRMs onto the new system? I know this may sound pretty stupid, but I've never had to do this before.

Good luck.
Ike Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Copy and paste everything on the old SD card onto your computer then copy those onto your new card so it should look exactly the same I would delete any existing folders). Done. Just insert the new card into your 3DS. Back up everything from both cards in a safe place first. And yeah, it just transfers your licences.
david.dakota Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Back up everything from both cards in a safe place first. I can't stress the importance of this. Copy - do not cut - folders. The transfer seems pretty reliable but I, and others, have had some issues.
Dog-amoto Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 All worked fine, thanks to everyone for the help. Mods, feel free to lock/delete this thread now.
