Planning on getting a wii u and have the chance of a US console bundle.

I have had US gamecubes and wii's in the past and wondered if there are still the benefits of picking one up.

Also any hassle in getting onto the US eshop or buying US prepaid cards.

If I get the US version then I also plan in buying a UK psu from nintendo Europe as I no longer have a stepdown.

With Nintendo now offering 60hz VC games in Europe, the USD being high in value and the EU getting almost every game at roughly the same time as the US, there's very little reason to go with a US console instead of a UK one.

I'd suggest going with a UK one for now and picking up a US one in the future if anything doesn't get released over here.

BTW, UK and US PSUs are interchangable with every Nintendo console, with the sole exceptions of the NES and SNES (which have differently shaped plugs). Also, you can use foreign credit/debit cards on the US eShop, so long as you set your region to Brazil (I think Canada works too) - prepaid cards of course, work just fine as well :)

UK Wii console because it's a lot cheaper and just hack the region lock off of it, it's that simple man. Plenty of guides to do it on Google and all you'll need is an SD card.

He's asking about the Wii U though? Afaik it hasn't been hacked yet!

Would there be any real benefit for a US one? Or is it just a case of saving some money? I'd wonder if that adds up in the longer run with importing games and stuff, the Wii U isn't region free(which is silly imo).

Thanks for the replies.

There is a US bundle for sale on a forum I use with several games that I fancy playing but when including the cost of a UK psu it works out very slightly cheaper than a new uk bundle.

I know my daughter would enjoy playing the wipeout game which I haven't seen mentioned for a uk release but don't want to make my decision on just one game.
