Ike Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 (edited) Trying to run a chkdsk and it cancels itself after my laptop reboots. It's not just chkdsk, it wakes itself up from sleep mode and cancels other programs trying to run if they have an option to abort. I figured something is registering a key press on its own, I removed all usb keyboards and it still does it so I figured it's the laptops keyboard/keypad. Weird thing is that nothing unusually is happening during normal use. No random key presses or anything. Basically I'm wondering if there's an easy way to find out what's doing it? Edit: Windows Vista. Edited December 25, 2011 by Ike
Shorty Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Is this from within Windows? Chkdsk can't run when programs are accessing the disk, that's why you should run it before Windows starts or in safe mode.
Ike Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 No, when it reboots and you get the countdown, it cancels straight away without any input. System won't enter sleep mode either, it turns back on instantly. Can't find a way to disable the built in keyboard to test if it's that.
