Happenstance Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Been downloading a lot today and yesterday to get all my games and programs back for this new PC and ive noticed that when im downloading and run a game fullscreen my download speed will drop dramatically until I quit back out. Anyone heard of this before and know how to sort it out? Id like to be able to run programs while im downloading, never used to have this problem on my crappy laptop
Shorty Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 What are you running the games through, and what are you downloading with? (eg steam, web browser, torrent program) Maybe you have some setting somewhere which limits your bandwidth when playing games, so that you can play online games without hampering your ping...?
Happenstance Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 Its all downloads so it happens when getting stuff through Steam (I know that pauses when games are loaded but I do resume it) and torrents so far. Same with games, happens when I launch through Steam or just an exe. Ive gone through all the settings I can find, thought id fixed it when I turned off the setting to turn off the wireless card for power saving but no such luck. Ive done a search and other people do seem to have had this problem before with Windows 7 but there were no real fixes given for it. Im currently downloading all the stuff I can from Windows Update, see if that will help.
Rummy Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 As Shorty said maybe it's a game mode setting somewhere? Have you checked if your firewall automatically does that?
