Just to see if this would kick off.

Basically, post a review of a gamecube game. Make sure it hasn't already been reviewd (a list will be posted here)

Use your own rating systems if you wish, jstu so long as people can tell if it is good or bad.

TRUE CRIME: NEW YORK CITY

The most pathetic video game I have ever had the misfortune of buying. The framerate is jumpy than a kangaroo on ecstasy and the control system is beyond ridiculous. When do you have to press Z + A to open a door when there are 3 punch buttons?

Terrible Game, avoid at all costs.

Good thread idea, often times 'professional' reviewers dog a good game and praise a piece of shit. Itll be interesting to hear opinions from the common folk. Maybe.

SpyHunter:

You are a secret agent who completes missions with his car only. The vehicle can transform into a hovercraft and is equipted with various offensive and defensive weapons; MGs, rockets, flame throwers et cetera. The levels are very linear and the enemies spawn at certain points. It's a typical arcade game and the controls very much reflect that.

The Interceptor can't be put off the ground, hardly drifts at all and steering is very easy but that's needed in order to aim precisely, weapon selection and firing could be easier but after some time it's no problem anymore. In every mission you get a new weapon or weapon upgrade so it stays pretty interesting.

Sadly the graphics are really terrible, many things are pixelated (but I read that only the GC version has that problem) and there are lots of 2D objects but it doesn't harm the atmosphere. In fact the atmosphere is really great, all the places are very memorable and when I saw something about Venice on TV I said to my dad: "Yeah, I saw the same thing before in SpyHunter" almost with a feeling as if I was there. Furthermore the leveldesign is very imaginative and with little shortcuts and traps pretty interesting although as stated above very linear but I actually like that.

On the other hand the story is practically non-existing, it has the usual secret agent story with an evil organisation trying to take over the world, but you don't play that game for its story.

A nice extra is the SpyHunter Theme by Saliva which can be unlocked as a music video too, I like that soundtrack a lot.

Final thought: If you can't get enough of the racing levels in the Bond games, SpyHunter certainly is something for you. Although the game is pretty short it has a high replay value with more or less useful things to unlock.
