TechRadar are reporting that LulzSec, the group of hackers responsible for the recent theft of personal data from Sony Pictures, has admitted hacking Nintendo servers.

LulzSec Twitter feed also makes mention of the hack "Re: Nintendo, we just got a config file and made it clear that we didn't mean any harm. Nintendo had already fixed it anyway. <3 them!"

So, thankfully no personal data seems to have been compromised with a Nintendo statement reassuring us all that "The server [under attack] contained no consumer information. The protection of our customer information is our utmost priority.

We constantly monitor our security,"

Oh well, at least it's not serious! We were playing online earlier, so it's not a PSN level disaster!

However, if Nintendo actually implemented the rumoured anti-piracy system for the 3DS (that bricked systems that played pirated games via updates) then the piracy/hacking community would brutally attack them, as they did with Sony.

I'd assume nothing so far. Only R4 cards that work are the DS ones and i'd say there's nothing on the bricking part because there isn't a reason to sent such an update yet.

Oh, did they say that they're not bricking systems anymore? As far as I was aware they had yet to actually do a bricking update.

I don't know if they are or aren't doing it, but if they do they could be in the same position as Sony.

What's there to hack?

It would be Nintendo's websites, just like how the hacked competition data from Sony Pictures' website.

Oh yeah definently. If they did brick 3DS's I wonder how they could handle the attacks. As long as I can still play my games/Cafe online then it's all good! We won't need to worry about personnal details :D
