Karl619 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Hellooo! I'm wondering if anyone can help me! The computer I have at the moment is old and slow, slowly drifting into retirement and its about time I either upgraded it or bought a new one entirely. I need a computer which can play battlefield bad company 2 - the specs of which are : Minimum Frostbite PC Specifications for BFBC2 & BF1943 Processor: Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHz Main memory: 2GB Graphics card: GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900 Graphics memory: 256MB OS: Windows XP Free HDD space: 15GB for Digital Version, 10GB for Disc Version (BFBC2) 10GB for Digital Version, 4GB for Disc Version (BF1943) Recommended Frostbite PC Specifications for BFBC2 & BF1943 Processor: Quadcore Main memory: 2GB Graphics card: GeForce GTX 260 Graphics memory: 512MB OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7 Free HDD space: 15GB for Digital Version, 10GB for Disc Version (BFBC2) 10GB for Digital Version, 4GB for Disc Version (BF1943) What components would you suggest I buy to get my computer up to their standards? My specs are (copy and pasted obviously) OS Name Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium Version 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 Build 6001 Other OS Description Not Available OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Name DAVIESFAMILY-PC System Manufacturer PACKARD BELL BV System Model ISTART 2380 System Type X86-based PC Processor AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+, 2400 Mhz, 1 Core(s), 1 Logical Processor(s) BIOS Version/Date Phoenix Technologies, LTD M2NS-NVM 0204, 13/11/2006 SMBIOS Version 2.4 Windows Directory C:\Windows System Directory C:\Windows\system32 Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume2 Locale United Kingdom Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "6.0.6001.18000" User Name daviesfamily-PC\davies family Time Zone GMT Standard Time Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 1.00 GB Total Physical Memory 766 MB Available Physical Memory 100 MB Total Virtual Memory 1.75 GB Available Virtual Memory 620 MB Page File Space 1.04 GB Page File C:\pagefile.sys So would it be cheaper to upgrade or just get a new pc? I've also wanted a laptop for ages but I don't know if there any out there which match battlefield's specs. Quad core laptops cost alot! You're probably thinking do your own research but I have and haven't got anywhere because my computer knowledge is shockingly bad. Any help would be much appreciated. The person with the best advice wins a cookie!: peace:
Nolan Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 A new PC is about the only option, upgrading what you have practically would be a new build as just about everything would need to be upgraded. http://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/ Cyberpower isn't a bad place to start looking at custom built machines. You could also peek around on scan or ebuyer and see what sorts they have. If you see something and are unsure, just ask.
Karl619 Posted January 27, 2010 Author Posted January 27, 2010 I have my eyes on this ..http://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/AMD_Phenom_II_DDR3_Configurator/ A nice base price but the amount of extras I could buy is mind boggling! I'll have to have a good look through. I already have a decent monitor....
McPhee Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 http://dinopc.com/shop/pc/20-302-AMD-Dual-Core-PC-95p520.htm Upgrade the graphics card to a 4850 and add an OS and you'll be good to go Obviously you could go further, but it depends what your budget is.
Nolan Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I think he already has an OS. His current PC is Vista, but it's also a socket 939 so I'd venture the guess that he bought it. Although, pitching some money towards 64bit Win7 isn't a bad idea.
