Gmail is giving me grief.

For some reason I can't attach files to my gmail account

 

it claims it may be caused by firewall or proxy but windows firewall is on normal (unchanged since it did work) and I don't use a proxy

 

ideas?

What OS/browser/extensions are you using?

Win XP,Firefox. Few adblocks etc. Nothing huge

 

nothing's changed on my pc lately that I can think could alter how gmail works. It's really weird.

 

I had a virus for a couple of hours but I got rid of that straight away.

 

oh and also: my university email uses gmail as a base and that works fine.

Does it do it on other browsers? Ie... err... IE? That virus sounds a bit shifty, what did you use to get rid of it? What's the exact message you're getting when you try to attach, and where is it originating from (google or your computer?)

If all else fails, do a system restore.

try clearing cache and cookies. I'd say a system restore is a bit OTT.

A system restore doesn't really do much though, you lose some customisation settings etc but you don't lose any files. It might not be a bad idea.

Just pick one day BEFORE the incident happened. I don't think there would have been some DRASTIC system changes done that day. Besides, it's only as a last resort.
