13 year old father (it's not Alfie)

Recommended Posts

“He is mature for a 13-year-old and knows what he’s about. He goes to a good school and is doing well.”

The teenager plans to quit school as soon as he can to find full-time work so he can become a breadwinner for his girlfriend and baby.

That second sentence contradicts the first..

It's so damn irresponsible for the kids to be having sex in the first place. Is it mature for the kid to be attending antenatal classes? No. It's the decent thing to do, which any Father should be doing anyway. He shouldn't be praised for this sorta stuff, because now he has all these responsibilities and things which are expected of him.

"His father said the teenager was “chuffed to bits†at having a baby and insisted: “My son is mature for his age and will make a good father."

Reality check. Your son is 13. He is barely out of nappies himself. Instead of praising his idiocy, why can't they show him that what he did is plain wrong?

why are 16 year old girls going with 13 year old boys, it makes no sense at all....

Because they're mature for their age. Duhhhh. :heh:

I had sex waaay before 13, I don't see what's up with this hype.

See, this is what I was going to point out. The people involved are all children; of course they don't know the result of their actions. I know that when I was 13 (and probably before it) I used to think about sex, and given the opportunity I probably would have taken it if the situation or whatever was right. You're at that stage where you want to find out all this stuff. It's called puberty.

That said, I'm not saying that this is right...it's just the way things are. I just don't understand why people get so shocked that teenagers had sex.

This.

And people forget, the Virgin Mary was 13/14 when she gave birth.

I think the more shocking thing is that teenagers are doing it without any idea of the consequences involved, or doing it without any form of protection. I think far too many have the mentality of "oh, we'll be fine, nothing bad will happen. That will just be rotten luck."

There was no mention in the entire article about any contraception being used. Did they even think about it? Or was it the plan to get the girl pregnant? The education is there, I just think far too many just choose to ignore it.

I don't know why, but I lol'd at this.

I'm in the "Who gives a shit?" camp. It's not like he was 8 or something, which would be interesting on a scientific level. This isn't newsworthy, especialy after the pointlessness of the other one earlier this year.

Honestly? This! Underage parenting. It shouldn't happen. I mean, he's a baby himself really and now a baby has to bring up a baby. It's not really the fact that he's having sex (I was his age once and I was thinking about sex when I was about 9 or 10) but the fact that, at this age, he is a father and his parents are like "he's mature" and stuff.

My cousin is mature but that don't mean he should be ready for fatherhood. Do these kids even know about protection and sexual diseases and stuff like this? Are these kind of important subjects being talked about? Are they aware?

I mean, take Alfie for example, he thought him, that girl and the baby would survive on his pocket money which was a tenner. Alfie's dad even said Alfie never knew exactly what had happened.

This lad should be out playing footie with his mates and enjoying his youth. Now he has to grow up too early and take care of his baby.

That's what's wrong, lol.

Yeah, my comment was meant to lead into the joke of "Oh I was raped." Or something. But I forgot I posted in the thread and didn't post the follow-up.

But in all seriousness, it isn't surprising that a 13 year old is interesting in sex, etc. But when I was at the age of 13 I had had sex education and knew, from my family, that sex outside of a loving relationship is "wrong" so I never ended up in these situations. So... maybe this is an example of how in this country we have poor sexual education and broken families.

I actually did some work experience at a primary school - helped out with a year 6 class. What I found interesting is that their sexual education video was a cartoon, and had a very weird way of explaining things... in a round about way type thing. Not to the point. Where as when I was doing it (I actually went to the same school and had the same teacher who I was helping in year 5) it was to the point and with... uh... people.

From this I can draw: That since I've been taught sex ed. and when I did my work experience the children learnt sex ed. a year after what I did and they had cartoon videos to demonstrate the points, but in a poor manner.

I don't know what the situation is with sexual education in the UK or elsewhere in europe, but in Canada, the schools all have a short course on it at age 11, 13, and 16. The first time they sort of tell you what sex is, without going into any details, and mostly just talk about puberty, which I suppose is fine for that age. Now, when the kids are 13, you would expect they might actually talk about sex and contraception and stuff like that, but they don't, they barely even talk about sex, less even than at age 11. Finally when you're 16 they teach you how to put on a condom, show you pictures of STDs, tell you about them and how they are treated and stuff like that. They tell you what you probably should have learned when you were 12 or 13. Tons of people are already having sex at age 16, its just too little too late. Unless kids actually go on the internet and look things up, they're not going to have any idea what's going on.

I don't know if it's any different for other people but when I was in Year 5 in primary school (about 9 years old), they told us about sex and what happened and how a woman got pregnant and stuff. We watched a real life video about it and not some cartoon. When I was in Year 8 in secondary school (about 12), they told us everything in detail like STDs and protection and stuff like that. It wasn't until I was about 15 that they told us how to put a condom on (but everyone sort of already knew how to at that time).

Oh, I forgot about secondary school sex ed. For me it was condom on banana in year 7 and more in-depth sex ed. The problem with this is that the sex ed. part was turned into tests, etc. This meant it was no longer interesting/important for us, it was now a test subject, therefore lame, etc. Also, we were meant to all be given a condom but our very... traditional teacher, didn't want to. We also so a baby being born... full on view.

And then in year 11 we have a lecture for an hour by some out sourced people on STDs. Full blown pictures of deformed penises, vaginas that looked like black forest gateau, etc. It was nice.

Believe it or not, we had plastic cocks that were the size of from my elbow to my hand. Everyone was playing up and slapping each other round the faces and the funniest moment was when the teacher snapped and shouted: "Stop slapping your cocks on each other!". Pure LOL moment.

We had an ornamental ceramic parrot that served as our "banana". More penis-shaped.

I can't remember exactly what we had in school. I do know that we didn't have it during Primary School, though. In Year 7, we ended up watching a video in Science of a very unattractive woman giving birth. Her husband had the dodgiest 'tache, too. It was like some awful 80s porn vid. The way the baby came out of the video too....it kinda slid out, I think half of our class wanted to physically puke right there and then.

For the famous "this is how you use a condom" moment, we had a person demonstrate by putting it on her fingers. The woman was really upbeat, had a really cheery voice and was quite enthusiastic whilst demonstrating. Then, the classic line was uttered:

"Remember, condom goes on penis, not on fingers!"

In chronological order;

P6 (whatever that is for English people...age 10 approx. Primary school) we watched the famous "My body's nobody's body but mine!" video about molestation by uncle told by women and men in dungarees.

Geits (our fa fa word for the year after P6) we did it in Sciene, so nothing sexy, just the hard facts.

Then I think we did the bit about erections/wet dreams and such 2 years later in "Thirds". We watched the worst video ever. A boy interviewed amongst a group of his peers was like "I just remember it going all...blue.." and all the class started laughing.

Year later (at the start of GCSE) we briefly did the sexy bit (featuring condom parrot) and then did STI's for the rest of the topic.

I also remember we did shit stuff about erections in PSD later on..some awful video with a character called Johnny Boner or something cringey. Bit like Mr. Bananagrabber.

I never had the condom putting on lesson. But it's pretty self-explanatory... especially since they all come with little booklets telling you how and why. Not exactly rocket science.

I did have to leave the classroom once during a sex-ed lesson when it showed an inside view of a woman's vagina, and a penis going into it, and explaining all about the womb, because all the blood was running from my head into my legs, and I felt like I was going to faint.

Kinda funny though.

I love how that went down in history for a few years. I never got to see that, but then you were in the top biology set (but I did it longer).

And then another time I had to go to the nurse during a biology lesson on HIV/AIDS because I felt so sick.

I was such a gay little boy.
