Right I'm going to uni this month and don't want to take my 21" CRT TV. So I'll be using my PC monitor for my 360/wii as well as my PC (this one). Now I need to get a VGA box thingy (recommendations welcome, don't want to spend too much) but I was wondering How I would get sound as my monitor doesn't have built in speakers. The speakers I use for my PC are Logitech X-230s. Now I've heard that I could use these, but does that mean that my pc would have to be on for it to work?

I'd imagine that those speakers would require a seperate power supply unit so no, your computer won't need to be on for them to work with your 360.

It'll work once you have the right cables. The Xbox 360's VGA cable has 2 RCA cables (red + white) for sound. To hook these up to your speakers you need a female RCA to female 3.5mm headphone jack. You could also do with a female 3.5mm to 2x male 3.5mm cable so you don't have to keep swapping the speaker cable over between 360 and PC.

I've got the 5.1 version of those speakers and they work great with the Xbox. As long as you have the plug which converts the red/white cables to the one 3.5mm headphone jack they'll work great. My official VGA cable came with one of these I think. And it'll be fine without the PC on as the PC doesn't have anything to do with the speakers at all.

From what others have said i gather you will need:

For the 360:

VGA Cable (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-360-High-Definition-Cable/dp/B000AYYADE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1252945071&sr=8-1) Which also includes the RCA cables (for sound).

To allow the audio to be used with your speakers you will need a RCA to 3.5mm adapter (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1218) and a stereo coupler (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1213). A Female RCA to female 3.5mm would be easier but i can't seem to find any.

As for the Wii, VGA box or that VGA cable.
