Shorty
Hi guys, I'm looking for a graphics card and would appreciate any reccomendations from anyone. I'm not looking for an amazingly powerful card, I need a PCI-e card which can easily support HD video and maybe play a few modern games fairly well. My previous card is a Geforce 7600GT, which is a bit dated and more importantly, really noisy and possibly broken. I don't need to play the best new games at max settings, so I'm not looking to spend a fortune. I'd really appreciate any suggestions anywhere in the £30 to the £120 range. Quietness being a bit of a priority. PS thanks to everyone with the help sorting out my PSU, the new modular corsair is brilliant, so tidy! Ten10
Upgrade to the ATI 4670 takes everything I've thrown at it. Eats Crysis with no problems with settings on high, and is reasonably cheap. Vista rates it 5.9. I would either go with that or even try the higher tier 4700 series. If you want to push things more to your upper limit Ebuyer has the more advanced 4800 series for around 70 quid. MoogleViper
I have the 9800GT and that runs most things fine. Easily runs HD. Not tried many demanding games so can't comment on that personally.
Shorty
Wow, thanks for the prompt replies I went straight ahead and got an ATI 4670, it was cheaper than I was expecting for a decent card, plus there was a sapphire model for just £53 which had 5 star reviews and was a heatsink model meaning it solves my noise issues. Plus I... got carried away and paid extra for next day delivery, brilliant! Thanks again
