EEVILMURRAY
I've managed to find my XP disc to piss on Vista, it won't install straight in because Vista is an upgrade and it has a bitch, I try booting it from the disc during startup, but the menus I get to using an F key/Del don't help because my keyboard suddenly stops responding. How do I get my XP love back!?
Konfucius
Do you have the keyboard plugged in via USB? If so get a cheap keyboard with a PS/2 input (purple plug I think) and try with that. You could also unplug your harddrives, that way it's forced to boot from the disc, but I'm not sure how well this will work.

If I unplugged the hard drive, how would I be able to get rid of Vista and install XP? I just tried swapping my hard drives around as it wouldn't let me format the HD in its primary sense, so would format it as an external HD, but because the other hard drive was on my old PC [which has XP on it] it can't cope with the upgraded technology and the mouse wouldn't work. So I've switched them back.
Konfucius
If I unplugged the hard drive, how would I be able to get rid of Vista and install XP? That is a very good point. Sorry, I didn't really think this through properly but maybe the HDD still gets recognized if you plug it in, after booting from disc (although I don't think so). If you have any old keyboard around try that out and hope BIOS will recognize it, I really can't come up with anything else at the moment. Edit: You could also download a Linux distribution and start that from disc. I think Knoppix managed to boot from disc although the HDD had higher boot priority, so this should enable you to format the harddrive.
