Jimbob Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Good morning to all As many of you are aware, i am facing the threat of redundancy from work. I recently had an appeal hearing as to why i believe my independant scoring sheet score (the sheet was used to assess everyone in the company and to make a fair decision on who is at "high risk"). I am currently writing a grievence report up because as of late since being put at "high risk" i havn't been doing a lot except browse the net. Below is the report/letter i have written so far. I would like to put in a complaint as to how i have been treated since receiving a Personally “At Risk†letter on the 17th June 2009. Since the morning of 18th June 2009, i have been unable to perform my duties as a Programmer because the adaptors required to use the software have been removed from my computer. Also on the 18th June, all of my work was removed and given to another member of staff as were my adaptors for completion and was not returned even after instruction was given to return Programmers work. I was given the instruction to “Job Search†for the day. I was more than capable of completing my work which i had saved to complete on the 18th. Upon asking for work to do on the 22nd and 23rd June i was told that there was no work to do and i was to “Job Searchâ€. Programming work was then issued “over the wall†as it were. I believe that this was unfair as i am more than capable of performing my duties. I would like to point out that others who have received “Personally At Risk†letters have been able to perform their duties as normal as well as being allowed to “Job Search†if they required. What i have been allowed to do is Isometric CAD drawings “practice†as it were in the case that my role is to be made redundant and i seek to acquire employment elsewhere that requires CAD skills. In fairness, i was given some Coupons and asked to create Basic Messer Stripping Sheets which can all be done on-screen using Auto-Cad on Friday 26th June 2009, this was simple programming and was completed within 30 minutes of issuing. Also to be noted, I have been noticing since the beginning of June 2009, Programming has been assisted by another member of staff and an individual from the RFI department was given “Basic Programming Trainingâ€, this was to be trained to Program Stiffeners, Covers and Coupons in the need that work demand is higher than normal. When this was addressed, it was worded in my opinion as “assisting if work increased staffâ€. If this “training†and “re-training†was necessary, I believe that it should have been delayed until the necessary redundancies of roles were complete. These training tasks were carried out in front of the anxious staff who were already concerned about there own jobs. This is roughly what i am handing in to my boss's boss. This is open to discussion.
Kirkatronics Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 What is the problem? Your going to be made redundant, so theyre trying to help you find another job. I dont see how you could use this as a complain, unless i missed something.
Raining_again Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 He's been given a "high risk" redundancy status because it looks like the management are taking work away from him. Sounds like a fair enough complaint to me
Kirkatronics Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 He's been given a "high risk" redundancy status because it looks like the management are taking work away from him. Sounds like a fair enough complaint to me What i mean is theyre told him hes going to get made redundant, which cant be helped, and even given him time to look for a job whilst being paid.
Kirkatronics Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Yea, ofcourse i read it. His work is being taken away, but i assume that because hes being made redundant.
Jimbob Posted July 3, 2009 Author Posted July 3, 2009 (edited) I quote this part for warandchaos I would like to point out that others who have received “Personally At Risk” letters have been able to perform their duties as normal as well as being allowed to “Job Search” if they required I see it as grievence for me not being able to do my work. I am still employed with the company and as a director said in a meeting "still employed to work my role as normal". So if i can't do that, what do i do except complain. He's been given a "high risk" redundancy status because it looks like the management are taking work away from him. Sounds like a fair enough complaint to me To clear this part up. The redundancies are occuring due to the fact that contracts are being lost to rivals who can produce the same goods we can for cheaper. We have enough work to tide us over, but won't be making a huge profit as forecast. I am not recieving any work due to the "high risk" status. But everyone else who is at high risk is still getting work to do. Edited July 3, 2009 by Jimbob
