The Lillster Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 (edited) Hello Everyone, I really want a job as a junior webdesigner, although I have been designing and messing about with webdesign for a fair few years now, for one reason or another I have a very small portfolio. I'm just wandering what I should put on my portfolio and if anyone could give me some tips? I've had a quick go and put this together - It's just a png file at the moment... CLICK! UPDATE: The Link works now! Edited March 25, 2009 by The Lillster
bluey Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 (edited) do what i'm doing~ offer your services for free/crazy cheap until you have enough work for a decent portfolio... then build it up with personal projects and university competition type stuff. That way you work on real jobs that real clients would actually ask for instead of *just* university competition entry stuff. ...and then throw your paper/digital CV about everywhere and gumtree.com your ass off! or you could just gumtree yourself...! That's a good idea, I was actually going to do that, but I'm a bit rusty at the moment, because I havn't done any webdesigns for a while. Anyway the link is working now, i've gone for a basic look, i'm actually thinking of just designing the entire portfolio website in html and css (no graphics/images).
dazzybee Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Lillster. What type of designer do you want to be - E-Commerce, Creative, Design, Advertising, Promotional.... Because I would design my portfolio exactly how you will specialise. If you're going to do 'everything' then I would suggest having examples of everything. Webdesign is very comptetitive and people looking to have sites built need proof you can build what they want. How good are you? Particularly integrating flash into html design?
