Daft Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Well some models do have software emulation so we know it does work. http://kotaku.com/gaming/customer-service/sony-could-run-bc-on-40gb-ps3s-they-just-dont-want-to-308467.php
Eddage Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Gah, I thought this was announcing a Final Fantasy VII remake! As for the special edition... well there isn't really anything special about it, it's just a non shiny normal PS3 with a little picture on it...
Nolan Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Well some models do have software emulation so we know it does work. http://kotaku.com/gaming/customer-service/sony-could-run-bc-on-40gb-ps3s-they-just-dont-want-to-308467.php Well then, if that's the case they should go MS route and put it too the devs. Sony said they don't want to focus on it well fine, but they could tell the devs "Hey, you guys make a patch that lets your game work via software, and we'll release it and publicize it." That would put them back on even ground with MS (strictly speaking on the BC front) They were leaps and bounds past MS, and now....well they aren't. Unless you have a mass of PS1 titles to play.
Choze Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I think we will likely see a game by game basis of emulation like the 360. Sony still have not been able to do 100% software emulation. I forget whether its the GPU or CPU that Sony are struggling to emulate. I wonder if they will do this soon? I sure hope so. I have a 60GB but i wouldnt mind having some games i sold ages and get them via download.
