Simple way of knowing if its CPU of PC or your network is try the wired port on PS3. The wired on PS3 is 1000mbps, so its obviously not going to be a bottleneck.

You can always copy it from the server. Saves you hassle of using USB to transfer. At the end your file is transcoded for PS3.

OMFG Im such a nub. Of course I can copy it over if I can see the file! Ah man thanks for that wake up call! : peace: And im pretty sure it's the network as its an old D link router G624T. I mean it was old when i got it off my friend. Plus cant use wired connection as router is in another room and i already have a long wire running from PC to router.

EDIT: For some reason, said file that I want to copy has a size of 94 GB according to the PS3 yet on my system its 388 MB :blank:

Yeah PS3 Media server cant tell how big the file is and just displays the space left on your HDD.

for wired i use Devolo Powerline adaptors. Obviously its not cheap. :heh:

Holy crap thats not cheap!

Wired connection has yet again proved to own. Transcoding and streaming problems are now a thing of the past as I bought a new ethernet cable for just 7.99 for my comp, got some masking tape for the old wire as I had accidently sherred some of plastic protective coating, and now thats in my ps3. 1080p anime and 24 here I come :D

You get an ethernet cable in the box with PS3 plus poundland do them for £1. :p

But yes take advantage of that 1000Mb port on the PS3. Wireless tops out at 54Mb in comparison. :awesome:

...cable in box? I bought this second hand (extremely good condition and was only 4 months old) but I never got an ethernet cable, even though I got the receipt for the machine along with the box and all the cables. Also are these really long cables, like 15 metres in poundland cos thats what i needed.

I have basically stopped using this now, I think the devices add-on for Vuze is way better as it converts all the files that I normally couldn't get to work.
