Diageo Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I have watched loads of other avi files, I don't have other media servers and i don't have an usb stick so i can't check those. All transcoded files on the ps3 in every folder doesn't work. It just sits there as a folder and it doesnt open, and you cant copy it.

The program has easy tips on how to open the firewall and other tweaks. After that you should be good.
RoadKill Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Windows can stream video to an xbox without any additional software, but it depends how the video has been encoded (supports divx, some h.264, some mpeg-4 and wmv) you also have to configure sharing to allow sharing to your 360. If you're having trouble there's also TVersity TVersity is fucking awesome, by the way, seconding this
Domstercool Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Can now finally run 1080p files across from PC to PS3 because of this program! WOOO
Choze Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Can now finally run 1080p files across from PC to PS3 because of this program! WOOO You already could with Tversity etc. This program is just the best quality and fastest as well as working with anything. Just check the website: http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/ Use the above for connection issues advice Diageo. Install the program again as well if you want to make it easier to open ports and find the install.
Choze Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 So working now? You said something about not being able to copy then you said you could? As i said all possible issues are laid out in the program. Its very straightforward to get working.
Domstercool Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Tvesity for me would NEVER WORK! EVER! Stupid program This however, even through routers just simply finds your PS3 and does everything for you, fantastic!
Deathjam Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 Nice to see that it's working for people. I myself got a 1080p version of the latest naruto episode, and even though I have set the program to use all four cores of my comp, the playback still stutters. when it runs lower res stuff, I dont get the same problem so I am thinking it's down to an old router. Sigh, guess HD stuff will have to remain on my comp. Damn thing looked so fine as well.

The wired on PS3 is 1000mbps, so its obviously not going to be a bottleneck. You can always copy it from the server. Saves you hassle of using USB to transfer. At the end your file is transcoded for PS3.

It still only works for some of them, and the transcoded files don't work, but i downloaded the anime i wanted in dub and it worked. And for the other ones that didn't ill just watch them on my pc.

And for the other ones that didn't ill just watch them on my pc. I cant figure out why. The only thing i can suggest is look on the website and see others who have been experiencing issues. You can also try Tversity if you like. Its not as cool as PS3 media server but for some it does everything.

Ah man thanks for that wake up call! : peace: And im pretty sure it's the network as its an old D link router G624T. I mean it was old when i got it off my friend. Plus cant use wired connection as router is in another room and i already have a long wire running from PC to router. EDIT: For some reason, said file that I want to copy has a size of 94 GB according to the PS3 yet on my system its 388 MB

Obviously its not cheap.

Choze Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Holy crap thats not cheap! Helps with big files though. Also keep lag to minimum in games. Love my router.
Choze Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/ Big update! Hello there Some fresh news from the development front, as there's a new version out there! Two interesting things: First, Windows users who owns multicores processors will be pleased to know that, this version includes a custom build of mencoder optimized for multicores and H264 content, based on the great work of the ffmpeg team. Benefits ? recent CPUs are now fully used, rather than the usual 60, 65% usage with the default mencoder build (that means a 30% performance gain on mine for example), so you can almost ditch your CoreAVC / AviSynth installs... Be careful though, this is somewhat very young, so you can disable it if any problems arise... The another thing is that, we have a new forum You can join here... feel free to participate ! PS3 Media Server v1.03 for Windows/Linux/OSX Here's the changelog: - Changes / Features Customize encoding parameters (along with default ones) for any given container/codec/property combination (purpose: A/V sync, playback issues, and tweaking for advanced users) Ability to select networking interface OSX 10.4 Tiger support (Intel only) Settings reorganization M4V now streamed by default, you have to enter the #Transcoded# folder to force the transcode (like AVI files) WMA now transcoded by default Italian localization WINDOWS ONLY: Use (only with 720p/1080p H264 content) an experimental mencoder build for multicores New OSX icon (thanks to Jakob Karlsson) Added a "Skip/Force transcode extensions" option added if default settings don't suit you Possibility to only remux AC3 audio tracks and not reencoded them - Fixes Default platform charset issue Transcode buffer optimization on Windows Application crash on Windows when too many widechars filenames were parsed Audio tracks sorted by track number (if present) in media library Better filenames/subtitles management (m2ts/ts/dvr-ms issues, comas, widechars, etc.) External subtitles not always loaded, again DVD images are listed in the media library Fixed RSS parsing for Youtube and maybe other feeds AviSynth / VideoLAN not always detected on Vista 64bits Unavailable engines exclusion on OSX/Linux Fixed console mode on Linux
Choze Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 yes! I can now transcode in 1080p without delays. Woo.
Deathjam Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 yes! I can now transcode in 1080p without delays. Woo. Awesome find. Downloading now. Feels like you have taken over my topic
Choze Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Diageo try the new firmware update and see if that helps? by some chance. Awesome find. Downloading now. Feels like you have taken over my topic Sorry
Deathjam Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 Diageo try the new firmware update and see if that helps? by some chance. Sorry Pffft, im only kidding. It's good to see the topic still alive. Now it's time to watch some streamed 24
Choze Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 hehe, tried it, no difference. That sucks. There is a proper forum set up now on the media server website. You could try there. Try fiddling with settings in the program.
Diageo Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I don't really mind, its only one anime that doesnt work but it works in mp4, the loss of quality isn't that bad.
Choze Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Converting from Divx is hard. http://www.videohelp.com/tools/mkv2vob New Mkv2vob out. Handy for converting your MKV without loss to mpeg. :awesome: Takes afew seconds for each file of 1gb. Its fast.
