Hellfire Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I do not think Sony mind as much as some people think since PS3 was the reason Blu Ray won out and there is tremendous potential for the future. PS3 was one of the reasons Blu Ray one, but a small one I think. The main reason was more that Sony payed $120 million to Fox and $400-500 million to Warner.

Hellfire Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Sony paid that money? By themselves? What were the rest of the BDA doing? I'm not at liberty do divulge that information.
Hellfire Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Of course there were payouts, Toshiba payed too, Sony just bid higher. This is not some stupid rumour, it's the truth, you can call them royalty agreements if you want, they're still payouts. How can they not worry when they're in the red? Bah whatever.
rokhed00 Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 It also cemented PS3 as the high end system of choice. Sales figures say otherwise.
Jon Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I'm sure the usual cutbacks will happen, but with gaming being one of the few industries that isn't in recline, I doubt Sony are gonna shut up shop. I'll eat my hat if they do.
RoadKill Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 They'll likely start outsourcing technology (like CELL) before they close down the gaming division. Cell is already a Toshiba/IBM joint project, Toshiba's forever pimping a cutdown version of that shit as "SpursEngine", and IBM have made some kick ass mainframes with a gazillion Cell processors
