Falcon_BlizZACK Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Do they sell new serial codes? Because I have lost that little holographic label that had the code and now obvious can't re-install windows unto my Mac. Is there any other way to order a new one? (That isn't a crack).
Shorty Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Do you still have that copy of Windows installed somewhere? Cos you can use a program called Magic Jelly Bean to find out the serial key that was used to install it.

Is that the only way? (thanks for the help tho). I do have windows XP on the home computer, but it was a manufactuers installation (windows built in).
Ten10 Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Go to a shop find a laptop with windows sp2 on it, look underneath. Take the key and be happy.
Shorty Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 I'm not sure if that falls under his request for 'official'
Wesley Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Also not sure if that'd work with the disc, updating, etc, etc.
Falcon_BlizZACK Posted November 30, 2008 Author Posted November 30, 2008 I think the code will be specific to the disc.
McPhee Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 The codes aren't specific to the disk, but they are specific to the manufacturer and sometimes range of laptops. You might get away with robbing a key, but at the same time you might not. It's luck of the draw, not to mention illegal. When the same thing happened to me i wound up running Linux for a bit until Vista came out then i bought a copy of Vista.

I really need to use Autocad and play C&C 3 in windows.
Wesley Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 If you downloaded a copy of XP that had the key streamlined within it you'd be okay.
McPhee Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 This is starting to get in to dodgy territory, sorry guys [LOCKED]
