Weird MSN (Windows Live) Messenger Problem

This has been going on for ages actually, whenever I sign onto MSN on this computer only it takes ages for my contact list to load up and 9 times out of 10 it will say its lost the connection and needs to reconnect. It only does this on this computer, every other computer I sign on to it works fine. It's not only my account either, it's when anyone signs onto it....

Tried reinstalling but it still does the same. Running Windows Live Messenger 8.5.

Hmmm. I had an issue with this ages ago, and I believe that my contact list on their server, (or wherever the hell it is) was corrupted. I signed on and it disconnected me. sometimes i was online, but appearing offline to everyone, and other times msn just died.

Is there any way of you trying it on a different machine? Could eliminate any problems on your PC...Somehow I doubt it is, but its worth a check regardless :)

Yeah, I've tried other machines and it works fine. I think it must be something to do with my computer because other accounts don't work properly either...

Everything else works fine. I reinstalled last night and now getting another problem. It just stays at the "signing in" stage for ages but it says I'm online on other people's computers. Occaisonally after restarting MSN conuntless times it will sign me on but I still have the problem of my contact list taking ages to start up...

It worked pretty well most of the time. I used to have the sidebar up all the time, it meant I could see my contacts all the time, have isntant access to my Gmail, have a clock I could see from across the room.

Then when I found out it didn't like MSN I turned the sidebar off as I couldn't really find anything else to replace it with on the sidebar.
