I use Windows Media Player to rip my cds onto my computer, and they always rip as WMA files. But the new MP3 player i'm planning to order is only compatible with MP3 and Atrac files. Can i rip my music so it transfers to my computer as MP3? I know i can convert WMA to MP3 later, but i don't want to have to do that, and plus it might degrade the sound quality.

Go into options in Windows Media Player.

Go to "Rip Music" and from the drop-down dialogue box select MP3.

(To get to options you need to right click somewhere on the screen and go to tools, don't know why they've done away with the standard menu bar)

Unbelievable. I've ripped a few CDs and had to download more programs to convert. I feel stupid now.
