Gizmo Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Yes, I'm gonig to be that annoying and make another thread about my wireless network. Thats what, the third one since I joined here? This time, I've got a new Vista laptop which is refusing to connect with my PC. I'm using a Nintendo dongle with hacked Buffalo firmware. It works with my 360, DS and Wii, but with Vista is fails because the router does not respond to the laptop. It finds the laptop and shows a strong signal but simply gets no response. I tried connecting to my neighbours wireless as an experiment, which got me to the WEP key input stage, which is further than the PC. Any idea's whats up? The only thing I can think of being wrong is that the router is not compatible wth Vista. I wanted to check on here though before I gave up. Maybe this will convince my dad to buy a proper Wireless router, not the crappy Nintendo one.
Shino Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I don't get it, what does the Nintendo dongle has to do with this?
Gizmo Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 Sorry. The router I'm using is the Nintendo dongle with hacked firmware, tricking it into thinking it's a Buffalo router.
Ten10 Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Have you been able to connect a laptop to it before. Say an XP based one?
Gizmo Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 Well I've not had an XP laptop with wireless. It definately works with my Xbox, Wii, DS. I don't see why it wouldn't work with XP.
Gizmo Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 Well, I got a wireless router and set it up just now. Works easily now. No more Nintendo USB Dongle! Hopefully this is the last of my topics about my bloody network.
