Jimz Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Ok guys what is the ipod(5th generation) headphone port actually made of, shit? Its broken on two ipods in one year and its now out of warranty so I can't just get another replacement. The specific problem is that they stop outputting sound from one ear. It happened on a mates and they apparently said it's because he had the cheek to wrap his headphones around the ipod whilst it wasn't in use. Anyone experience similar problems or know how much it costs to repair?
Jasper Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 That happens when they are dropped. You could solve it by making your pin face a little different, or putting it a little higher. A friend of mine solved it with some tape, making the socker less deep so the conencting pin could easely go to both headphones.
Shorty Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Like Jasper said, it's not the ipod or the socket, it's you dropping it. And one (usually the left) headphone breaks separately cos one gets more movement and action. You could buy some sport headphones, or just be a bit more gentle with them.... iPod stock headphones aren't exactly great anyway. I mean I love my iPod but I appreciate that pretty much all headphones that come packaged with mp3 players are not exactly high quality.
