Anita Frazier: Regarding current state of the industry:

"This year sales have already achieved the annual sales number for 2005 - and the two biggest months are yet to come. I think we'll see not only record-breaking revenues but record-breaking year-over-year growth when the final numbers are tallied."

Regarding PS3 sales after price reduction:

"Remember that the PS3 price cut came in November so we'll have to wait until our data comes out next month to see the effect of that cut on retail sell-through of the hardware.

Regarding Guitar Hero III sales:

"Guitar Hero has certainly established itself among the elite video games properties. Very few games sell in excess of 1 million units in their first month in market, but Guitar Hero III did easily with combined sales of 1.4 million units in only 6 days. Since it has broad appeal, it's also the type of game that should continue to do very well throughout the holidays."

Regarding Accessory Sales:

"Accessory sales increased sharply coinciding with hardware sales as consumers continue to pick up additional controllers to use with their new systems. Because of Guitar Hero, guitar controllers also had a great month and helped drive some of the 94% year-over year increase in accessories."

I can't believe Guitar Hero III sold so well on Wii. It's also telling that the PS3 didn't have one game in the top ten, and Ratchet and Clank sold poorly.

The PS3 looks to be in terminal decline, bizarrely this generation will be known for the 360, Wii and PS2.

Microsoft has done one of the smartest things it could possibly do, which has virtually pre inscribed Sonys defeat tombstone for the 7th generation of gaming. It has dried up most of Sonys former exclusive franchises that made its gaming brand achieve the phenomenal success it has before PS3 released. The biggest being no more Grand Theft Auto exclusivity, but also no Resident Evil exclusivity, and no more Final Fantasy exclusivity. Metal Gear Solid, while still remaining exclusive at this point, won't be enough on its own to shift a significant number of PS3 units. Gran Turismo on the other hand... Gran Turismo and Grand Theft Auto (especially in light of loss of exclusivity to Xbox brand) are Sonys lifelines basically, and without them, they'd stand no chance this generation...

The loss of GTA did the biggest damage. Personally, I feel MGS4 will end up on the 360, and the Wii may get a compilation of 2 and 3.

Either way, and with so many good racing games on the 360, GT would have to be something off the scale to turn things around.
