Pit-Jr Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Petey Piranah Simple solution. Don't buy the game in the first place, that'll make em' think twice about boycotting Nintendo home consoles if the demand is less than desired... Average reviews compared to the all time great Resident Evil 4 would also be handy as well... Boycotting? Or maybe the developers take pride in their franchise and wanted to develop it on systems that can handle their vision. Don't punish Capcom because Nintendo failed to deliver on the hardware front.
immy Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 There is one thing that is absolutely certain and i'm willing to put ten thousand pounds on this very fact. There is no way RE5 will surpass the critical acclaim received by the legendary Resident Evil 4, arguably the best game of the new millenium (next to Metroid Prime). ABOVE STATEMENT IS "NOT" LEGALLY BINDING! why do you think that?
Petey Piranah Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Petey Piranah Boycotting? Or maybe the developers take pride in their franchise and wanted to develop it on systems that can handle their vision. Don't punish Capcom because Nintendo failed to deliver on the hardware front. Their vision is to put one of their prized franchises on systems where the franchise has actually performed well. Even if the hardware requirements were met with Nintendos current home console, the chances of this game appearing would've be slim to none anyway for the very reason that Resident Evil 4 on GC was instantaneously outperformed sales wise by the trimmed down PS2 port... why do you think that? The game was near perfection, indicative with the all time high average scores its gotten on popular game ranking sites like gamestats and gamerankings. Guaranteed RE5 will follow suit of other all time great games releasing and subsequent follow ups, not exceeding the masterful predecessor games (e.g. Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask score wise, was not able to surpass OOT). Of course there are exceptions, but they're in the minority these days...
killer kirby Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 TBH, I don't really care. I'd rather have an exclusive game. I loved RE4, but RE5 just has nothing that interests me - the gameplay "enhancements" sound annoying and I'm not keen on it's looks, either (sure, it technically is great..but something just looks wrong) Well Shinji Mikami isn't on the game anymore so that may be a reason :P
Zechs Merquise Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Simple solution. Don't buy the game in the first place, that'll make em' think twice about boycotting Nintendo home consoles if the demand is less than desired... Economics dictate all!
DCK Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Resident Evil 5 will probably not come to Wii, but I doubt that the RE5 will get the same status on the other consoles as on Wii, critically, commercially and among the fans. Now that RE4Wii sold more than great and the ever growing lead in sales of the Wii over the other consoles, I think that Capcom is already regretting the choice of developing RE5 for the PS360... There's a possibility they might swing over the project but I think that's close to zero. If Capcom is as smart as I think they are, they'll eventually give us an exclusive 'real' Resident Evil. I wonder if the games'll ever reach to RE4's heights without Mikami directing, though. On another note, I'm really looking forward to the games coming from Seeds Inc., the studio that came of pretty much all big names at Clover Studios after they were dissolved by Capcom.
Strange Cookie Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 It won't happen. The technical leap is too great. I'm quite looking forward to RE5, but as it isn't going to rear it's infected head until 2009-2010, I'm quite happy with RE4: Wii Edition and Umbrella Chronicles. As a matter a fact, I just bought RE4: Wii Edition only yesterday. The new controls made me giggle like a little girl. Which I am not. I'd like (another) remake of RE1 with Wii-controls, although they'd have to alter the game dramatically. That's one of the reason they shifted course with Umbrella Chronicles, which was going to be a "Best Of" with Wii-controls. The original games just weren't meant to be played with RE4-mechanics. But then again, stranger things have happened.
