Posted July 14, 2007 "Trying to find out for ages"? Did you ever think of googling the phrase: setting up a lan ? Seriously people. Google. It's there, use it.

Posted July 14, 2007 Well the only way we can be of more use than google is if you give us a little more details specific to your aims. Are you trying to set up several computers for a LAN party? Are you trying to game between just two computers? Do you already have any equipment for it like a router or cat-5 cables? Do you have ethernet cards installed in the computers you want in the network?

Posted July 14, 2007 Can you just help me ,i just wanna know what u generally need to set up a LAN.
Posted July 14, 2007 Well Shorty mentioned stuff in his post and it depends if you want wired or wireless and how many computers you want to be part of this network. If you want a wired LAN then you'll need some CAT-5 cables and some ethernet cards in the computer, plus a router if you want more than two computers. If you want a wireless LAN then you'll need a wireless router and some wireless receivers in the computers.
