Roght, so my pc is on it's last legs, i mean really, so for my birthday, i'm gonna get as much money as possible (or get some parts as presents), and get myself a new pc.

So far, in terms of parts, me and my mate from school got up to:

CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 (1.86ghz) £72.73

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/121407/rb/28403570595

HDD - 250gb £37.84

Motherboard - £50.61

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/126762

Memory 1gb DDR2 - £30.60

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/63631/rb/28403831234

EDIT:

Case - £14.99

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119592/rb/28456864665

EDIT #2:

Graphics Card - £64.97

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/106578/rb/28456888557

EDIT #3:

PSU - £66.23

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/114931/rb/28457091622

Total Price: £337.97

Now, i need a graphics card, once i have the graphics card we'll know what power supply to get.

EDIT: Chose a different case, a lot cheaper, but i've been told it's not bad.

Okay, so you got... £210 to play with from what i can tell.

Get either a cheap 8800GTS or a 8600GT.

You're gunna need around 600W PSU as well.

Oh and another gig of ram couldn't hurt.

I just built a £269 e4300 system and it flies when compared to my old P4 3GHz. Video encodes at 4x the speed it used to.

To keep costs down go through Google Checkout (buy everything from e-buyer - so change your hdd choice) and split your order into several different orders each that total over £30 (and get super saver delivery each time). Google Checkout then knocks a tenner off each order. Awesome stuff.

Need a DVD drive? I got this one:

(I went all SATA).

I got this case and it's beautiful:

You might want to look if you can afford an amd athlon 64 X2 4600+ . It's not that much expensive, and it beats the E4300 in game performance. If you plan to do much video/audio encoding or overclocking, get the intel.

I plan tio possible salvage some cables etc from the old PC and maybe the USB card if needed, i'm keeping it i guess.

So what are we looking at in terms of graphics?

What was the 8600 that Caris mentioned? I'm looking at the nVidia 8 series

I started looking at the nVidia 7 series, to keep the costs down. How's this one?

Please keep in mine guys, im not trying to put together a badass pc. Just one i can play my current games on, and run vista. Which i know this one should.

OK, ill stick with thre rest, but i need to know if that PSU's gonna do the trick or not?
