DanielTimothy Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Mother just brought home a "Compaq Presario" with which she is set on using to write a novel on and use for e-mail, Its running Windows 98 and I'd bet it weighs more than me. The thing is, it only has a port for a phone line internet connection, so is there anyway I could adapt my ethernet cable to connect to it? I'm not sure if I have no chance because its too old, or it would be really easy with the help of a little adapter. Help? Please?
Charlie Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 If it has a PCMCIA port (my very old laptop has 2) you could buy one on eBay for a fiver and plug it in through there. That's what I used to do. PCMCIA are just slots and are probably covered by something which will go inwards when pushed.
Shorty Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Here ya go then, PCMCIA ethernet cards: http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=pcmcia+ethernet+card If you have wireless, you can also get wireless network cards that go in there or a wireless USB adapter (assuming you have USB ports)
