Tom Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I need to upgrade my PSU, as my new graphics card needs a power supply, and my existing PSU cuts out whenever I plug it in. The probblem is that I have no idea how much power I need. I have tried google, but no joy, mainly as I'm not very PC minded and just get confused. I have checked my mainboard manual, and an unable to find its maximum power, nor can I find the rewquired power for other components, so I am hoping you find people can help! My Current PSU is 250w. I have a MSI K8Mm3 series main board 2 x IDE HDD 1 dvd drive 1 dvdrw drive and the graphics card I want to fit isAsus AX800XT If one of you could estimate my power needs that would be great! I hope I have provided all the necessary info.
Colin Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I'd say get a 450-500w PSU. 400w would prob be fine, but it's always best to get something that's a little bit more powerful than what you need.
Tom Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007 sorry to bump, but are you all sure that this is the only opinion any of you have on this? remeber how great you all are!
Jon Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 400watt would be fine Tom for what you need. Just make sure to get a decent one like Tagan or Seasonic.
Tom Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007 excellent. as ever this board hasnt let me down for pc related geekery, thanks!
