Retro_Link Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 http://www.cubed3.com/news/6541/1/Ubisoft_on_Wii:_Brothers_in_Arms,_Driver_and_more... Ubisoft have revealed their Q1 2007 line-up that includes a selection of reconfirmed titles due to hit stores in the period, along with four new titles for Wii, including the PS2 port Driver and Brothers in Arms: D-Day. According to Spanish site, Revo Gamers, the company revealed their release data today. Wii Brothers In Arms: D-Day Cosmic Family Driver: Paralel Lines Spelling Spree Prince of Persia, Rival Swords TMNT (GC also) http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/753/753065p1.html Ubisoft's Spanish subsidiary has put out a release that announces, among others, a handful of new Wii projects. The first is Brothers in Arms: D Day, the most solid confirmation yet that Ubi is readying a version of the hit first-person shooter franchise for Nintendo's new console. Last year, an allegedly leaked document listed Brothers in Arms as a game underway from Wii. Ubisoft denied the document's validity, but every other title featured on the list was eventually announced or released. The game's name suggests that this is might be a Wii version of the recently released PSP series entry, a "Best of BIA" game with new and remixed content from all of Brothers in Arms (assumedly with improved visuals to match the Wii.) In an interview with IGN, the developer of the series, Gearbox Software, also said that it was working on a Wii project. Insiders claim that Gearbox was at one point experimenting with Unreal Engine 3 and attempting to create a dumbed-down version that would run on Wii. Unfortunately, we have been unable to confirm the accuracy of that rumors. The second title is called Spelling Spree and, as the name suggests, it is very likely a project focused on spelling and vocabulary challenges. Gamers might be quick to discount such a product, but if Ubisoft can put a Brain Age style spin on the presentation, Spelling Spree could be a surprise hit. The third game, Cosmic Family, is a port of the PC franchise of the same name. Very little is known about the project, except that it is geared toward younger players. A brief description, courtesy Amazon's UK website: "Meet the Cosmic Family - Mr and Mrs Cosmic, their two small children, big sister, the scatty cat, the playful dog, and monsters of every shape, size and color. Early learning, humor and music for 4-7 year olds and their parents." Whilst it's more games and more support, which you can't really complain about, I'm fed up of these lazy, rubbish Ubisoft ports!! Far Cry, Splinter Cell, TMNT and now a re-named Driver 3 (I guess), one of the worst games ever!! I'd much rather they focused their Wii efforts on NEW and exclusive games that make use of what the console has to offer, like they did with Red Steel and Raving Rabbids!! Get on with Red Steel 2 and others Ubisoft!!
Hellfire Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 There is a possibility that BIA is good. And it's better than no support.
flameboy Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 The thing is these ports will still sell in relatively good amounts although I can't help but blast bringing out such an old shite game as driver. But I guess for every originally developed game they bring out they are gonna release 10 rehashes, it's probably to help offset the costs.... One good thing I guess is that even though we are getting old games atleast it means the Wii will have a pretty extensive library of games very early on in its lifespan, and can be pointed to as a plus point. I guess ubisoft are hoping that the more casual gamers who buy the Wii but don't know what to get besides Wii Sports and such like will pick these titles cos they've maybe heard the franchise names being branded around in the past!
fanman Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 and now a re-named Driver 3 (I guess), one of the worst games ever!! Driver 4 is parallel lines, which happens to be even worse than driver 3.
flameboy Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Driver 4 is parallel lines, which happens to be even worse than driver 3. yeah is even worse, and can be picked for like £10 or something in the sales at HMV, but if anyone is a real sucker for punishment you can £40 for the pleasure of playing it on the Wii.
Haden Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 PSP version... Thats literally horrific we better get a graphics upgrade. Oh god it makes sene though as POP is based on the PSP game. Thanks a lot a lot Ubisoft.
Colin Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Driver 4 is parallel lines, which happens to be even worse than driver 3. Er what? Was a fair bit better than #3 actually. But Driver3 put a lot of people off the series.
fanman Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Er what? Was a fair bit better than #3 actually. But Driver3 put a lot of people off the series. When they both suck that bad, it's hard to tell the difference. I enjoyed the ps1 ones, but yeah, driver 3 put me off.
BlueStar Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Played a few of the BIA series on the PC. Played through the first one, started playing the second and it was exactly the same as the last which in itself had got pretty dull by the time I finished it (move, supress, flank, repeat). A Wii version would have to be something very special indeed for me to be remotely interested. The rest is just PS2/GBA style froth. Good job Rayman is decent or Ubisoft's Wii adventure would be a horrific whitewash. "Tommy auf der linken seite!" Yes Fritz, this tommy has been flanking the shit out of your linken seite for the entire game, I'd have thought you'd have worked that out now.
Colin Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I wouldn't say either sucked, but Driver3 had a lot of problems that just got in the way of anyone actually enjoying it. Parallel Lines fixed a lot of these misgivings........but in the end they fit in with all the other GTA clones, which are mostly average. Both games had good visuals and physics though. But yeh, none of the sequels have really got to the level of brilliance that the original Driver achieved. If it wasn't for Driver3's sales, Atari would have folded this past gen. Not sure Ubi will be able to get peoples interest back in the series after their purchase of Reflections.
SimbaK2K Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Its early on in the consoles life, what are you expecting? Games take years, not weeks! Personally I'll pick up driver when it comes out, haven't played it since the ps1 and I like GTA clones. Give it another year and hopefully we'll have some quality 3rd party stuff, but I'd rather have this now then a drought of games till winter.
