unplug the console, plug it back in, make sure batteries are okay for the remote. Turn the console on, press the sync button under the flap of the wii and the sync button on the wii (under the batter flap) at the same time. Do this a few times, if you still get nowhere you'll probably have to call Nintendo after boxing day.

switch your console on, then press the sync button on a remote, then press the sync button on the console, that should then sync one of the controllers. If not keep pressing sync. This happened to me with one of my remotes.

I don't have a Wii yet, but from reading those manual scans I got the impression that you don't push both sync buttons at the same time. You push one of them first (I think it's the console one) and then you push the other one. Doesn't the manual say this?

The remote one I think, so the lights are flashing, then press the console one and it registers it.

I do occasionally get the problem where the remote stops responding. I don't press the sync button to sort it though, just unplug the console, take out the batteries from the remote, put them back, turn it back on using the button on the console and it fixes it.

When I got a new remote I synced it with no issues whatsoever. Pressed button on the Wii for a couple of seconds, then pressed it on the remote. It wasn't even an instant move as I had to remove the battery cover in between - started working straight away.

For me I found the only way it would work was if I pressed the SYNC button on the remote a good few seconds after I pressed the consoles SYNC. Wierd.
