  1. Although the person who sent the assets asked us not to share them, they corroborate the existence of a bizarre crossover RPG that’s currently scheduled to come to Switch in either August or September. Ubisoft is developing Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle on the publisher’s proprietary Snowdrop engine, according to the assets we’ve seen. The game’s selling points appear to be a) turn-based combat, b) two-player local co-op, and c) a goofy sense of humor. (The art we’ve seen features Mario and crew wielding laser beams.)

The game will apparently have eight playable characters: Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, and, bizarrely, four Rabbids dressed up as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Peach.

  2. I'd say that MK9 will be shown off next year.

Let's face it, Mario Kart is one of Nintendo's best known franchises. MK8D came out first of all because the Wii U was an abysmal failure, so unless the Switch bombs just as badly, there's lots of potential customers who solely didn't get the game because of the format it was on. Second is that MK8D was an easy way for Nintendo to patch a hole in the lineup for the console's first few months.

Nintendo would however be flat out stupid to not release a new Mario Kart at all this generation. We'll see it, because Nintendo like money, and because people know that MK8 isn't new and expect a new Mario Kart.

In terms of what it'll be, I think that Nintendo will change things up, like they did with Breath of the Wild. My hopes are that they'll introduce a deeper single player component. Whether this will mean a more Diddy Kong Racing-esque adventure mode or the plethora of different cups and challenges that you see in games like Gran Turismo is of course up for debate.

Nintendo might copy a thing or two from Splatoon, Gran Turismo 6 or Payday and launch additional content free of charge as the game sells more. Since Mario Kart DS, remakes of old tracks has been ever more popular, so perhaps eventually we'll get complete cups from other games.

    Next year? Way too soon.

Remember MK8 Deluxe is like a new game to many. They never played the wii u version. Next year would be franchise overkill.

  3. Given that Steep has a strong online component, I wouldn't be surprised if it got pushed back until the Nintendo paid service launches.

I'm still not expecting strong AAA Western support, despite the high sales of the console. Luckily the indie and Japanese support should be very strong.

True and I still don't know what they will do about always online.

The western support can come from outside AAA titles. The GameCube never got every 3rd party multi platform game but it got enough, especially at the beginning..

I still think Nintendo should of said to Rockstar how much for GTA V

  4. REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With more than 459,000 combined packaged and digital sales in the U.S. on launch day alone (April 28), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch system is the fastest-selling game in the long-running Mario Kart series. The previous record holder for the highest first-day sales in the franchise was Mario Kart Wii, with U.S. sales of approximately 433,900 when it launched in 2008. The solid sales numbers for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe equate to an attach rate of 45 percent – meaning nearly one in two Nintendo Switch owners in the U.S. purchased a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the first day it was available. To date, more than 2.7 million Nintendo Switch systems have been sold globally.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has also received more perfect review scores than any other Mario Kart game ever. With a current Metacritic score of 93, the critically acclaimed title is the highest-rated game in the series in 15 years – tying the overall review score of Mario Kart: Super Circuit for Game Boy Advance.

To continue this strong momentum into the summer, a series of great games will launch for Nintendo Switch over the next few months, including Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition (May 11), Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers (May 26), ARMS (June 16) and Splatoon 2 (July 21).

    Crazy

  5. It was a really smart idea to port MK8 to what seems to be a more successful console for them and it worked out. The Switch really seems to be what the Wii U should have been.

    Yep. MK9 doesn't need a switch release.

Have to put smash Bros port on the switch. It's a no brainer.

Plenty of Switch owners would never of seen the wii u version. These are new games to people.

  6.

This is why it doesn't make sense when people like to believe Nintendo create artificial scarcity to cause demand.

Nintendo are not deliberately holding back supply. They simply didn't believe the demand would be so great. Nobody did.

I know it's early days still but this device is mad popular. It's been a long time since we saw a Nintendo device sell like this so quickly.

  7. New shipment of Switch consoles + the release of Mario Kart =

They really have spaced releases well. With arms in June and then splatoon 2 in the summer they are set until fall/holidays.

Looks like the switch is going to have a mega first year. Looking at holidays this year thing could have such a momentum and people will be walking into stores seeing Zelda, MK8 ' splatoon 2, arms, Mario oddessy, Xenoblade and possibly Pokémon all on shelves. That's crazy!!!

  8. Game sold out on Amazon uk

Amazon US says to ship in 1-2 months. This is game is mad popular.

Nintendo Switch has secured its first UK No.1 with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

In fact, it's the first Nintendo boxed game to get to No.1 since 2011, when the format holder topped the charts with Pokémon White on DS. It's also the first Mario game to reach the top of the charts since Mario Kart Wii in 2008.

Nintendo used the launch of its racer to ship more Switch stock to retailers, which has seen The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild return to the Top Five (at No.5) with a 68% increase in sales week-on-week.

  9. Have you already contacted them about it?

Anyway, I have 2 issues I should've asked about some time ago.

1] Does anyone else have problems with the resolution in the menu in docked mode? It doesn't completely fit my PC monitor, making the screen fuzzy. It's annoying, but it's only in the menu. Games (the ones that I presume are 1080p) look good (=sharp), like Wondergirl or the Puyo puyo tetris demo. Before you ask, yes, my monitor is exactly 1920*1080.

2] The pro controller. Does anyone else have issues with the d-pad? Mine seems to have problems with registering the right direction. Often pressing right (or left as well I think) will register as up. In Zelda this was annoying (opening the runes menu instead of the weapons menu). Then I thought it was me. But in Puyo puyo tetris it's downright disastrous (dropping blocks instantly when you don't want to), and it happened often. I'm wondering if it's a design issue or just my controller.

Docked mode outputs at 720p when going through through menus. Weird

  10. Can't meet the demand.

This thing is just flying off shelves.

Gamestop stores across the country may have gotten new shipments of the Nintendo Switch in advance of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe release, but if you didn't already know that probably missed them. Nintendo's new hybrid living room/portable console started flying off of store shelves on day one, and it shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. It's good news for Nintendo, a company that badly needed a win with its core console business after the tepid response to the Wii U and good news for the Nintendo fans that have managed to get their hands on one of the things.

"It's exceeding our expectations," he said. "We knew it would be a high demand product, but our Switch allocations are selling out not in days, but in hours...the demand is so high that consumers have to react quickly to be able to get their hands on them."

And while specific predictions about future supply or demand are tough to come by, nobody seems to be banking on supply stabilizing any time soon. At this point, demand still seems to be riding a launch window peak where machines are selling out immediately, at least for all intents and purposes.

"Right now we're not seeing sales going down at all, and I would expect that to continue for quite some time," said Bright

  11. Agreee. Huge mistake. It would probably have sold more than the 3DS version in the long run (not right away, obviously, but over time) and not have left a mark on the brand like the 3DS version has (one dip in the well too many).

At least Capcom have said that they intend on bringing their multiplatform titles to Switch. Hopefully we'll also get some belated ports before long from them too, plenty of games from them that I'd love to have in portable form...

Should be releasing marvel v Capcom as well. I don't understand, they released SF4 on 3DS which sold well.
