Fifa 18 (minus modes) it is.
-
I don't mind a non switch exclusive just not a 3DS only title.
-
Why Nintendo flew EA out to the January reveal I will never know. Pointless!!!
I still don't understand stand why they are just didn't call it Fifa 18 like the 360 and PS3 versions.
Either they have some stupid switch exclusive modes or as it will be the only game they don't need to worry about an old fifa title numerically being on shelves in a years time. This version will be around for the duration of the switch life.

Free until 2018. They struggling to get this network fully up to speed? That's quite the delay in paid services.

A third major topic that came up during the talk was Nintendo Switch. Asked how much support Take-Two and its labels plan to give the hybrid console, the executive started off by pointing out, "We're there, front and center" with the new NBA 2K game coming to the console this year.
Regarding Switch in general, Zelnick said, "We believe in it. We see it the way [Nintendo does]; it's been a very successful launch. It remains to be seen how it does, but we're excited about it. Assuming there is an installed base, we'll be there. Not with all of our titles, but selectively."

The cable will be probably be really short like the NES classic pads were. Guarantee it.

Same old Nintendo making something much more hassle than its worth.
This looks like a joke. You have to plug the headphones into the the switch and the phone. That's ridiculous.
What does one do if the dock is on the other side of the room.
This may be hori's setup but as mentioned the fact the headset is in the game does suggest Nintendo won't have their own headset.
Why would Hori make you have to use two devices with the headphones if it is wasn't necessary?
-
They need to get this out well in advance of sonic forces.
-
@Clownferret you may be interested to see this. EA have just announced their EA Play/E3 lineup and it's now confirmed that FIFA on the Switch is something different to FIFA 18.
Giant-head/feature stripped casual fest it is then.
They did thus with NCAA football on wii

Sounds like Capcom are testing the Switch audience to see whether they will support the console in a major way going forward. Better buy that Street Fighter game if we want more Capcom love. Saying that, if not buying Street Fighter someone helps get the Monster Hunter series back on the PlayStation, then I will happily give Street Fighter a miss.
Capcom are extremely stupid. How can you test the market with an overpriced decades old game?
Now while this won't effect a franchise like MH it sadly could effect other titles.
For reference :
USFII pre sales seem to be decent (Number 1 of all games on Amazon France, top 20 in America and UK, charting above Tekken 7).

new interview with the CEO of Capcom
http://toyokeizai.net/articles/-/173037
General points (talks about current title/old IP/Mobile/esports/Switch):
RE7/MHXX underperformed
Capcom were too cautious in sending retail stores units of RE7 at first causing the title to have problems growing
Some users were encountering difficulties with the download version of MHXX which he believes turned off other customers from buying the game
Users are happy with the quality of both RE7/MHXX and sales have been good for the current fiscal quarter
Talks about the the strengths of selling games and other services via digital stores like PSN
Capcom categories the strengths of these digital stores for them into two seperate categories; moving old titles to current gen machines and selling them digitally, and data on users which can be used to strengthen their marketing department sincelots of stats like how many people are playing the game or how many people reach the ending
Good year for the traditional video game industry with additional shipments of PSVR, Nintendo Switch, and Project Scorpio all out this year
Uses his own primary school daughter as an example of a child who never wanted a home console before but wants a Switch
The important thing regarding Switch for software makers is what they users want
Cites the DS/Wii as examples of hardware with explosive hardware sales that at the start of their cycles did well thanks to Nintendo showing others how to make games fitting of the hardware, while third parties originally struggled on these platforms and didn't sell very well
Capcom aims to develop many different things for different hardware and is currently researching
In regards to Switch, Capcom will think of how to support the Switch while looking at how Street Fighter 2 does on the system in May
Asked about resurrecting old I.P by the interviewer after talking about the recent announcement of Capcom vs Marvel
Capcom wants to resurrect old I.P, but doing so makes many problems crop up
One of these problems is that they don't have enough people
The lack of people is due to the fast advancement of tech making every title require more people than ever
Also the development of their current I.P and new I.P means they have even less time to bring back old titles
In regards to their lack of success in the mobile game sector, he notes that their titles are interesting and people are playing them
They are not making profits due to their lack of in app purchases
Capcom hopes to partner with our businesses who have had success in the mobile sector in order to cover for their weaknesses in the mobile sector and make more money
Talks about E-sports around the world and how it is producing pro gamers
Notes their own companies Street Fighter 5
Notes the strict laws in Japan that make giving large pools of prize money at e-sporting events not possible
Unbelievable.

I actually do reckon it's gonna do surprisingly well in terms of sales. It's launching at the perfect time, in the interim between MK8DX and ARMS, on a console that is white hot fire and sells software like cocaine.
Super Bomberman R has sold over 500K WW at full price retail, I can easily see USF2 doing similar numbers at "budget" price. It's tapping into that same audience and is banking heavily on SNES nostalgia (same as SBR) and easy multiplayer fun that just about anyone can understand and play. It's also a bigger brand in general. It's gonna do well, despite the price.
Unfortunately you could be right.
-
I've done this many times. Hell, many people buy games to just stick on the shelf and never play them.
Well of course but I'm talking substantial numbers. Games don't sell large amounts due to people bored and wanting something new to play.
The regular wii u bombas are testament to that.
-
I dont think it'll bomb, nostalgia will play a big part in this selling at least a hundred thousand.
Will quite a few Switch owners buy it just to have something new to play?
That is a serious question by the way, I don't pay much attention to the Switch and it's current library of games.
I don't think people buy games just for something new to play. That's a myth.

Yikes
Hirokazu Hamamura, the former editor-in-chief at Weekly Famitsu and now president of the parent company Enterbrain and director of the Kadokawa Group responded to a Forbes Japan article and tweeted “I think the product shortage [of Nintendo Switch] will continue until the end of this year”. -
What Capcom have offered here is a very meh offering when you consider what other developers have released or are releasing soon.
Just last week WB released Injustice 2 for around £40. For a £5 more you are getting a fantastic story mode that has multiple routes. A robust online set up that features one on one battles, spectator modes and KOTH. A clan/guild system that allows you to earn rewards as members of your guild play and increase the guild rank. Multiverse mode that give players challenges that change from day to day. The difference in content is quite staggering.
Namco are also set to release Tekken 7 next week. Once again this will offer far more bang for your buck.
It is a cash grab by Capcom. Hopefully this bombs hard.
This should of been a £15 eShop title at best.

Ouch

It should be clear by now that I think The Final Challengers is a disappointing game. As a Street Fighter fan, I would have loved for Capcom to put more effort into the series' debut on the Nintendo Switch. If it had to be a definitive version of Street Fighter 2, it could have been so much better. An accurate port of Super Turbo at a reasonable price would have been enough for me - and I'm sure many Street Fighter fans.US Gamer Score:3/5
If you absolutely need Street Fighter II on Switch, go ahead. For the 30th anniversary and $40? Capcom needed to do better. The company has released Street Fighter time and time again, and this doesn't even stand up to past efforts.Destructoid Score: 7/10
.This is the old school foundation that a lot of folks built their fighting game careers on. That's not a bad thing, especially with the Switch's on-the-go hook, but it could just as easily have been a downloadable release.Vooks' Score: pending testing of online servers
None of this is to say that Ultra Street Fighter II is a terrible game. There’s a reason that even games today are still building on the foundation laid by Street Fighter II. The biggest issue here is that this particular release feels utterly unnecessary. There is so little about Ultra Street Fighter II that justifies a purchase unless you absolutely must play a version of Street Fighter II on Switch right now
God is a Geek score 7/10
.Ultimately, this is pretty much the game you think it is, for better or worse. I still like and enjoy Street Fighter 2, though I’d prefer to play a more modern fighter. Including Violent Ken and Evil Ryu is a boon, but newcomers won’t care. Whatever you do think about SF2, this is far, far too expensive a price point for what is on the cart. While I can heartily endorse it as a good, sometimes great fighting game, I really can’t recommend buying it this price. So it’s a conundrum, then. A good game that costs too muchPress-Start Score: 4/10

Well I interviewed Raúl Rubio and Kevin Cerdá at Tequila the other day. Here's a bunch of details on the Nintendo Switch version:
- They're glad that Nintendo was interested but still a lot of work, "the hardest" version.
- looking for parity with PS4 in both graphics and performance, but a lot of tweaks underneath due to architecture, ram, disk, how to fit streaming, etc. "Not as simple as pressing the 'Make Switch version' button in Unreal Engine 4".
- They'd love to add HD Rumble, will do if they have time, but now focused on performance
- Still aiming for summer launch, 1080p30 and 720p30 TV/handheld.

Anyone else picked up Thumper this week? I like it but its bloody hard!
It's fantastic
-
Is Thumper an endless runner or does it have a conventional ending? It looks really good but I don't know if I'd enjoy it that much if it is an endless runner.
I assume an ending. It has levels and bosses.
-
I really like Thumper
