  1. What Have You Bought?

Congratulations! Are you a first time buyer? It's a brilliant feeling purchasing a house and that one looks nice. House prices in your area are pretty good too! Congrats EvilMurray!
  2. Intimidating Games

I can empathise with you Murr. It's those games that I know will take hours to complete, that I'd want to get fully engrossed in & would need to spend time concentrating on that intimidate me. My wife is amazing & understanding of my passion for games, but I do feel guilty if I come across a game like the above. I'd really like to play the Mass Effect series as I've only played the 1st one for a few hours, but I fear it would take up my life for a significant amount of time if I committed to playing and completing it!
  3. While the SNES and GameCube both mastered the genres set out by their predecessors, I have so many fond memories of my N64 that my vote went to Nintendo's final cartridge-based home console. The N64 showed what 3D games could look & play like, and it just had so many "wow" moments and innovations: the Rumble Pak, analogue stick, 4-player gaming as standard amongst the top innovations. Who can forget controlling Mario in 3D for the first time? The first time you picked up the Sniper Rifle in Goldeneye and zoomed in to see actual faces on the soldiers in Goldeneye? Visiting Hyrule as an adult & seeing how it had changed? Nailing that shortcut on Koopa Troopa Beach? The list could go on. This was my first Nintendo console and I spent many hours playing multiplayer games with friends, whether at each of our houses or even in our 6th Form common room. I could bore you all with stories but I'll save them for another time! It's the N64 for me.
  4. My Nintendo ( Club Nintendo Successor )

I agree with Dcubed, and anything that lowers the barrier to the My Nintendo service gives more opportunity for a larger user base. These are steps in the right direction, and anything that doesn't restrict it to just Nintendo hardware owners means there is the potential to encourage them to become hardware owners in the future.
  5. Twilight Princess HD (4th March)

An HD update for a lot of Wii games makes sense from a commercial point of view. Nintendo reeled in a lot of casual gamers with the Wii, and I doubt the majority ended up playing games such as Last Story, Pandora's Tower, etc. Going back to play them now, the contrast in graphical quality is clear, especially on newer TVs. I guess two main things to consider are 1) whether out of the WiiU owners are Nintendo's core fans who have already played those games, and 2) whether the cost of upgrading these games can be justified. I'd love to see and play an HD Twilight Princess. Yes it had more flaws than many other Zelda games, but it was also more ambitious with it's sheer size and scale, so there were many excellent ideas in there too. It will be good for those existing WiiU owners although I can't see it improving the WiiU sales.
  6. Football Season 2015/16

Milner's the type of player most teams need - that workhorse who you know will give 100% every single time, regardless of the team's overall performance. He would look better if anyone else around him was performing, which unfortunately isn't really happening for Liverpool at the moment. I think Klopp is a terrific manager, I just hope that Liverpool fans and board give him the time to buy run the players and get the team playing the style he wants.
  7. Stars Catalogue/Updates

Drat, I'm still trying to log-in to finish off my final few stars, but it freezes when I try to look at the Stars Catalogue. Ah well, I'd gotten everything I wanted, it was just a final push to use up my last remaining ones. I wonder how long before they announce its replacement...?
  8. Stars Catalogue/Updates

Haha, that's really similar to what I used to do! In the early days they even had a leaderboard of those who had the most. I was so pleased as at one point I was 3rd (It really was that sad that I was actually pleased about this!). Yeh the majority of items were just throwaway oddities, but it did have a few gems in there. I'm thankful to the scheme as I got my VIP DS through it before it was released in the UK, got to attend the 3DS demonstration event in London, and my New 3DS from it! Yes for every soundtrack, I wasted stars on Cooking Guide oven cloths & easily breakable DS box book-ends! Haha! Oh well, I started on Day 1 and now managed to order my Goodbye coin and Endings soundtrack at the very end. They didn't have to do anything for their customers, but thanks Nintendo for giving us the scheme.
  9. Stars Catalogue/Updates

Excuse my ignorance, but what's this "N-Box" rumour?
  10. Obscure 3DS Gems

They really are! :-) Brilliant game and follows on nicely from 999. I'm thrilled they're now making another title in the series and I agree it's probably one of more obscure and cult games on the 3DS.
  11. Games Done Quick

I can't wait! Some of the players are just ridiculous, and it's great to see how easy they make some of the games I played as a kid! Definitely worth tuning in for! The commentary the players give is always a little hit or miss - some are charismatic and give interesting / funny commentary, others are... just not as interesting.
  12. Stars Catalogue/Updates

Besides the farewell coin, do we know if there's anything else they've advertised that is yet to be added?
  13. R.I.P Satoru Iwata

Devastating news. Some wonderful tributes to a great man. He contributed a huge amount to the gaming industry and to the games I enjoy. My deepest sympathies to his friends and family. A sad sad day.
  14. Football Season 2015/16

There were many many times last season I thought they'd get rid of Pearson, but in all fairness they stuck with him & they stayed up. Seems a little odd to me that they've only now decided to replace him!
  15. Zero Escape 3 (3DS/Vita)

I know! Add in the Final Fantasy VII remake plus the (provided it's not a hoax) finding of a prototype Sony Nintendo console), it's as if the wishes of gamers are finally starting to come true! Now all we need is a Pokemon MMORPG, Beyond Good & Evil 2, and Half-Life 3 and I think the Internet will explode with the sheer excitement and anticipation of gamers!
  16. The Nintendo Playstation

Yeah I'm with you Rummy. I would absolutely love this to be real, but I'm going to remain on the side of caution. I can't believe we haven't seen any prototypes or anything for all these years until now.
  17. Zero Escape 3 (3DS/Vita)

Awesome news! I absolutely can't wait! Hopefully they release it over here too, although with an English language option and voices I can't see why they wouldn't.
  18. Help me win a UK competition??

Yep, all done, best of luck Mark! The website you run looks good too, wish I'd've had something like that when I finished Uni.
  19. Dreamfall chapters: the longest journey

It's been delayed a little longer on PS4... :-( Looking forward to reading the impressions of Book 3 though, hope it's good!
  20. Yooka-Laylee

The Kickstarter's been a wonderful success for these guys & hopefully it's brought attention to the appeal that's still out there for a good 3D plat former. Rare had such a great reputation from the N64 days & so many people are disheartened with where they are now. Well done to Playtonic Games. I'm sure they can do the support proud, and I can't wait to play it!
  21. Super Mario Maker

This is such a clever way of promoting a game. Between the Treehouse and the Championships I'm sold on just hoe exciting (Super) Mario Maker could be!
  22. Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)

It seems more of a mini-game as opposed to a fully fledged title. It does seem quite fun, but will need online multiplayer to stand any chance.
  23. Mario Kart 8

I'm enjoying watching the 200cc vs 150cc comparison videos that Nintendo are showing through sites such as Facebook. You can really see the difference in speed! The F-Zero track is suddenly looking much closer to it's source material!
  24. Stars Catalogue/Updates

Drat, they've come and gone again! On the plus side, my Super Smash Bros CD arrived yesterday!
  25. Grim Fandango (PS4/Vita)

It's terrific that they've decided to redo this classic for the new consoles and up-to-date PCs. Like Jimbob I need to clear some of my backlog first, but I'm looking forward to revisiting this enjoyable adventure. Hopefully this will continue the vein of getting other classic point and click games to be remade. Monkey Island got the repackaging spot on, here's hoping for more Day of the Tentacle, Toon Struck & Indiana Jones! (I'm not too worried about The Dig mind!)
