  1. I only started watching 12 Monkeys halfway through, which was not a good thing. It was on TV, and I happened to suddenly be around while dad was watching it.

If I had gotten the start it would've probably been so much better. But it was awesome nonetheless. I'd never heard of it before so it surprised me.

Maybe renting it would be a good idea, just so you know what happens all the way through. If you really enjoyed it, you might consider buying it. Amazon.co.uk have a decent price on it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004R78L/qid=1144014302/sr=8-1/ref=pd_ka_1/203-0062143-9081566

It's looking quite tempting to me now. I'm looking to expand on my dvd collection.

  2. I think Visitor Q is much sicker than Ichi. Though I've never seen Ichi the Killer in full.. They're both pretty bad.

The last movie I saw was 12 Monkeys. And I've got to say, it blew me quite away. It was one of the more confusing movies I've seen. And it was pretty awesome.

    9/10

My flatmate has 12 monkeys and i've been meaning to ask him if i can borrow it. I've seen it before and it is indeed an awesome film.

Just saw Batman Returns. It's my favourite Batman film, with Batman Begins coming in at an extremely close second. Danny DeVito is an absolute diamond in this film. I just love the whole gothic/'christmasy' look and feel about the film. 8/10.

  3. Yeah i love it! It is such a good album, I cant stop listening to it! One of the songs i can't remember which one they do on the live DVD (tell me what rockers to swallow) ive got which is about 2 years old i guess.

Its awesome, Karen O has an amazing voice. Cant wait to see them again in May :)

It could be cheated hearts, have another listen.

I think the album is great, and it's slightly beating Fever to tell in terms of overall album quality, in my opinion.

Where you going to see them? London?

  4. Lynne's getting on my wick again. Harold's about to confess to Susan then Lynne, having used some form of homing beacon [i say she planted a tracking device on Susan] bursts in, in Harold's food preparation area, blubbering in her selfish way, again.

"Oh I could really use a friend"

Stop driving them away with your selfish meddling ways, and get your hair back to the proper way it was before godammit!

Stunning rationale, with logic like that I hope never to see a topic stickied by you, ever again.

Haha, you do have a point. My sentence did defy logic. It's one of those things that sounds better in your head then when you come to type it down it sounds like utter bullcrap.

I'm loving the whole Harold gone crazy thing. As soon as somebody told me what was happening, i just had to tune in to see what was going on. Fan-fucking-tastic. :)

  5. I introduced my girlfriend to Ghostbusters 1 and 2, after i found the dvds for £2.99 each in Virgin Megastore.

10/10. They were my favourite films as a kid, and i still love watching them to this very day. Bill Murray is a genius and some of his facial expressions are hilarious.

"Ray, when someone asks you "are you a God", you say "YES!""

    :)

  6. Update: I have got the album and, as promised, here is my review.

For starters, i have to tell you that i am a massive fan of the first album. I was a tiny bit skeptical about this new album, mainly due to the fact that i didn't think that the new album could ever surpass the first.

Here is my track by track analysis:

    Gold Lion

Starts off with a drum lead intro, reminiscent of Queen's we will rock you. But, as soon as the vocals start, you know that this track belongs to the YeahYeahYeahs. The song manages to somehow evolve and keep evolving, peaking with a guitar solo about half way through the song. There's a nice mellow section which abruptly stops the song...only for karen o to bring it all back together! Very, very different from the material on the first album, but welcome. I give this 7/10. It's not their best, but it shows how their sound can vary, and that's a beautiful thing.

    Way Out

I love the way this song starts out. Sounds a wee bit anthemic. I can guarantee that you will be humming this song or have it still playing in your head after it finishes. Karen's vocals really shine during the chorus, but seem a bit subdued during the verses. However, that's not a bad thing. Another fantastic solo here which is accompanied by some great drumming by Brian Chase. Worthy of an 8/10

    Fancy

Starts off with another drum lead introduction, with the guitars coming in to backen it up. This song really is different to the songs off fever to tell. There is a certain maturity that the band have strengthened and developed, and this song summarises that up. However, at 4:24, it is the longest song on the album. Could maybe have been a bit shorter, as the band tend to excel at the shorter songs rather than long, drawn out epics. Fortunately, this is not painful listening. The drums really make this song, and shows how important Brian, as well as the other members, are important to this band. 7/10 is a very fair score for this.

    Phenomena

My girlfriend is a very big YeahYeahYeahs fan, and the chorus really captured her. In my opinion, the verse guitar riff makes the song. Each instrument seems to speak out to you as a seperate entity, but yet as one at the same time. There's a little funky bit where an alarm is going off in the backward, and that reminds me of all samples that the band like to play around with. The interlude sounds VERY rage against the machine-y, but that is a great thing. I would have to say that this is one of the strongest tracks on the album, and therefore an 8/10 seems to do it justice for me.

    Honeybear

Yet another strong introduction from the band. At 2:25 this is the shortest song on the album. But the band seem to really surpass themselves with this song. They've created a song worthy to be sang out by crowds at the top of their lungs during gigs. This track really has to be heard. An 8.5/10

    Cheated Hearts

Apparantly, this track was first introduced 2 years ago (or so) during a live session. My girlfriend tells me that the song has really come along since then and has come into its own. I really fell in love with this song as soon as it started. As soon as the chorus came into play, i knew that this song has just about surpassed every song that appears on fever to tell. It's melodic, it's beautiful, and it's sexy. This song deserves 9.5/10.

No song is perfect, but this is damn, mighty close.

    Dudley

After cheated hearts, this song slows the pace down and brings us into the melody section of the album. This song is one for the lovers, and for those who basically just like to relax and be at one with themself and music. It's not as great as the other songs, but it's still a fantastic track in its own right. 7/10.

    Mysteries

As it starts up, this song has a smooth country feel to it. It's one of the weaker songs on the album, but if this is weak then it just shows how good this album really is. A fast-picking solo by Nick Zinner is worth listening for. 6/10

    The Sweets

A very, very slow song that perhaps slows the pace down too much. It's a peaceful song and is along the lines of "modern romance". Again, one of the weaker songs on the whole album. I'm not a great fan of this. There is a section near the end where it speeds up and changes. Reminds me of behind blue eyes by the Who. It's certaintly a redeeming feature for this song. Not great. 5/10

    Warrior

Carries on the theme of slow songs. Karen's voice really is the key to this song, and i think she makes the song what it is. Around 2:18, this song really kicks off with Nick Zinner coming in with the guitars and upping the tempo. From there on, it's a classic. A 7/10 seems pretty decent for this song.

    Turn into

The guitar intro made me feel a bit teary, and from then on i knew that this song was going to be great. You can feel it as the song progresses. This is a tear-jerker of a song, but sort of uplifting at the same time. It's up there, along with cheated Hearts, as the best song of the album. Just the way it sounds speaks volumes about how far this band have come. The guitar solo seems strange, but weepy. It almost brought me to tears, and for a song to do that it must have some sort of hidden power. You can't put your finger on it, but you know it's there. 9.5/10. This song NEEDS to be heard.

    Bonus Track: De Ja Vu

I think this should have been included on the album, but not as a bonus track. It would have made a fantastic intro to the album, and that saddens me a little. Fantastic vocals, and the rocky, hard-edged sound of the music accompany it well. The solo is one to watch out for, and probably one of the best on the whole album. I strongely urge you to check out this track, as it is a personal favourite of mine. 9/10

So, there you have it. It's a fantastic album, and it definitely exceeded my expectations. Do not go into this expecting it to be Fever To Tell. This is NOT fever to tell, this is the next chapter in the story that is the YeahYeahYeahs. I hope this review helps someone out there.

  7. I quote:

Researchers emphasized their work does not address whether God exists or answers prayers made on another's behalf. The study can only look for an effect from prayers offered as part of the research, they said.

For me, this 'test' changes nothing for me. And i doubt it will for many others.

  8. you guys are missing the point! yes the games that didn't include the triforce or Ganon were fun, but they were to hold us over for a REAL Zelda game. NOW we'll only have these stupid side quest games and NEVER another REAL Zelda game and I say FUCK THAT and FUCK YOU NINTENDO! thanks for the good times! now theyre fucking over!

Of course, you are not totally over-reacting in any way at all..right?

If there is no Ganon or no Zelda or no triforce for future Zelda games, you have just as much a chance of them games being as good as Ocarina of Time or A Link to the Past. There is no set criteria for a Zelda game to be good, and every Zelda game has a unique feature. If Nintendo, for whatever reason, decide to change the formula for future zelda games, then they are doing it to give gamers something a little different. Do you want EVERY zelda game to feature the same end boss or same triforce shard hunting quest?

    Stop getting yourself worked up.

  9. It's been said quite a few times already, by me included in other threads, but have a weaker specification does not automatically mean a bad system.

The whole point of the Revolution console is to control gaming with your hands, not with your eyes.

  10. A November launch is a highly plausible idea. If they wanted to get the system out this year and actually create enough to sell at launch, then i think November sounds like a very resonable date.

You could go one step further and say that it'll launch in November alongside the Twilight Princess, which has been rumoured to have a November date as well. ;)

  11. If we all bought into the technical specification and graphics side of gaming, we would all be owning PSPs right now.

As you can tell by world figures, the DS is leading the Psp...despite being the weaker console in terms of specification and horsepower.

    So, what does this mean?

Well, i personally think that it means we all love consoles that can play dvds, movies, whatnot. But, the DS just provides something different. An experience that is unparalled with anything the Psp could ever offer. It's a different way to play games.

It's been clear right from the start that the Revolution will not be a 'PS3 horsepower beater-powerhouse", and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. What i know right now is that the Revolution will offer a different way to play games in a way that the PS3 or Xbox360 will offer. It's saying right from the start that it will be different.

I'm one of those people that just prefers that something different and unique when it comes to games. If the xbox360 or PS3 becomes appealing in the future, then i may consider one of them. But, right now, i have only console that i truely desire to play and that's the Revolution.

  12. I had that game on the PC, I played it loads and don't think I ever got past the seonnd level, i was only like 5 though :heh:

Was that the level at the mall? I vaguely remember having to knock off people's purple hats. I could never get past that level either.:hmm:

On-topic: Sounds like a good deal to me. 2 controllers and a lightgun though...am jealous. I would love to have that damn lightgun.

  13. I found that to be a very enjoyable read, including this bit:

"Market share is a way to sell your innovative content. It’s a means. It is not an end. If we create innovative and unique software, we use the market share to deliver it to the widest audiences. That unique and innovative software drives hardware sales."

    Good stuff. :)

  14. Weird to see how many expect Sony to copy the FHC out of sheer evilness <_<

Seriously, the FHC doesn't fit in Sony's strategy, Sony's audience or Sony's ideas at all. They won't copy it because they don't think it works well and will only get their mind changed by good Revolution sales.

I was thinking that as well. Sony would probably see it as more of a novelty thing, rather than innovation.

  15. Is anyone else getting annoyed by the fact that lotsof developers are totally discounting the possibility of porting their games to the Rev solely due to the pad. Have these folk never heard of the controller shell?

I think that's mainly due to the hardware. Even though we haven't been given any solid numbers, the word on the street is that the revolution will, apparantly, be 2-3 times the power of the gamecube.

Quite frankly, i didn't expect the next nintendo console to be solely about graphics. I expected innovation, and it looks like i'm going to get that. The DS and Revolution are a seperate society to the other consoles out there.

We may not get (for example) Resident Evil5. However, we may get an entirely new resident evil that utilises the Revo's features. Can't ask for fairer than that!

  16. I think I've completed everything on it on hard. It's such a good game, one of the best single-player (multiplayer sucks - screen is too small) on the GC I think.

Multiplayer owns for this game. I've played it on a widescreen, and i had no problems with it. However, i've always been a fan of splitscreen.

This game is really amazing. Trouble is, i'm at uni and my cube is at home. When next year comes around, i'm going to take my cube with me and try to unlock everything damn thing on this game. It is one of the hardest racing games i've ever played, in my opinion.

  17. Kutaragi said himself that the PS3 wouldnt be for the household buyer and that it was more than a gaming machine.

    Genious plan.....

    *_*

He's such an idiot. That's a big reason why the PSP has been underachieving in Japan (in comparison with the DS), because the PSP is just appealing to the male gamer. That's the problem when you try to make a console appealable (sp? appealible) to one particular audience...you alienate another.
