  1. Indie World Showcase (November 9 18:00 CET)

Nearly four years after that announcement trailer. Getting a little silly now. But it probably won't show up, again.
  2. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

The game is still very much grid-based, even if it's not as explicit visually. It's the ability to move around freely as much as you want and use Sparks and other skills before locking in your position by firing your weapon that took some getting used to. It adds an interesting bit of strategic thinking, even if it can get a bit fiddly when I'll be shifting characters a block or two to get them in range to help another team-jump. Did the first story battle of world 3 this morning and enjoyed it a lot, they added a new mechanic to help get around and it was a lot of fun. I barely took much damage and it was really satisfying getting around so freely and taking enemies out with relative ease.
  3. Virtual Reality

No idea what Nintendo or Microsoft have to do with this discussion. Also didn't Sony stop their PS3's from being backwards compatible shortly after release? VR is a different kettle of fish. If I picked up a PSVR2 I'd absolutely dive into all the old VR stuff, just because the content is so lacking, and likely will be for a long while. We're talking about VR hardware from PS4 > PS5. A PS5 that is already BC with PS4. The platform is already a tough sell, BC should be expected from a consumer pov, and a business pov.
  4. Virtual Reality

With a high end PC you also get... a high end PC. It does a lot more than just play games. I shouldn't be surprised given Playstation's terrible history with backwards compatibility but I still somehow am. That's just crazy. How to cripple an already niche/unpopular platform from day 1.
  5. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

This is a lot of fun. Just finishing up the second world and getting really into it. I hadn't watched too many trailers or much gameplay beforehand so I was surprised by just how different the game is structured. It's a lot more open, with lots of side-quests everywhere and a ton more battles. Nothing too involved obv but there's lots to do if you wander around. The cutscenes are quite fun. I hate Beep-o's voice with a passion though. HATE it. So yeah, very different experience to the original, but both are good!
  6. Virtual Reality

Stupidly pricey, especially given the tech is bafflingly not backwards compatible with PSVR 1 games. Still, not too surprising given it's coming from Sony this gen. The Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle is £40 more. Does that mean the game standalone will be 50 or so? I kind of expected that game to be like a 5-10 hour thing at most, so that seems pretty pricey if that's the case. Again not a surprise, For The Players. Oh phew, that makes it ok then.
  7. The Star Wars Thread

Ten years today since Disney bought Lucasfilm. The sequel trilogy, Rebels, Mando and Solo have struck the biggest chord with me personally in that time, but I've enjoyed almost all of it to be honest. Galaxy's Edge, Jedi Fallen Order, The Bad Batch, Andor, Rogue One, The Book of Boba Fett, the High Republic etc etc There's been a few mis-steps (as there is in everything, especially at the beginning) but on the whole I've had a blast. I think I'm probably a bigger Star Wars fan now than I was in the OT era.
  8. Bayonetta 3 (28th October)

    What's that?
  9. Sad to say I don't much anymore, though I'll still on occasion pick up Edge if there's a good feature or review, like say a big 3D Mario or Zelda game
  10. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

Surprised to not see more comment on this game. Put a couple of hours in, it's great fun. I was worried about the lack of a grid this time around, but actually it works really well. Still getting the hang of only being able to move before you shoot, I could swear you could do it in either order in the original. I get the feeling the sparks are going to add a lot more strategy to the battles. The visuals are a step down from Kingdom Battle for sure but that's just the trade off to having more open environments. Exploring the first planet has been fun though so can't really complain. My only negative is the voice acting. Love Rabbid Peach but she and the rest of the crew need to not open their mouths. Her silent gags in cutscenes are way more effective. Also praying that Beep-o gets blown up asap.
  11. The Star Wars Thread

Another episode of Andor, another 100% rating on RT. Fully deserved. Brilliant. Even without much action this week, every scene is so compelling and well put together.
  12. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

I've had the final boss of a game spoiled on this very site, even though there was absolutely no reason to post a picture of it... even in spoiler tags (which had malfunctioned).
  13. Bayonetta 3 (28th October)

It's now come out that the offer was 4K per session, 4-5 sessions = 20K total.
  14. Bayonetta 3 (28th October)

She gets caught and goes from "Jennifer Hale has no right to say she is the voice of Bayonetta" to "I want to put this whole franchise behind me now". I can see the game selling even greater numbers than it would have before all this started.
  15. Playstation 5 Console Discussion

£290 version announced as well, with an additional demo included:
  16. Playstation 5 Console Discussion

£210. Amazing. It'll probably have an even worse battery life than the current Dualsense too, if such a thing is even possible.
  17. Super Mario Odyssey

Five years since this gem of a game released, IGN released a brilliant video showing off a ton of little touches and easter eggs. Loads there I'd never seen before
  18. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

Getting great reviews as expected, 85 on MC atm. I've only read the IGN one so far and this sums it up And that's coming from Dan Stapleton, not exactly who you'd call a Nintendo fanboy over there.
  19. Bayonetta 3 (28th October)

It sucks that voiceover work doesn't get paid more but calling for a boycott of the game just because you personally didn't like the terms of your contract? Puhlease. And even worse... "[Jeniffer Hale] has no right to say she is the voice of Bayonetta" ... err, yes she does. She literally is the voice of Bayonetta, along with yourself. Fictional characters can be portrayed by more than one person. It happens often. "she has no right to sign merchandise as Bayonetta" Back to the boycott, what about the hard working devs who spent 100x+ more hours working on the game and who may be entitled to bonuses based on sales numbers? Why should they suffer because you ludicrously call for a boycott?
  20. The Star Wars Thread

Call the show slow if you want, eps 3 and 6 were anything but, but sure. But don't call the characters "two dimensional pieces of paper", I'm all for opinions, but that's just flat out wrong. The entire narrative structure of the show is three episode arcs where they spend two developing the characters with the third being the emotional and action packed pay-off. But yeah if you want non-stop pew pew action then the show probably isn't for you.
  21. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

Really excited for this, just one week to go. A little surprised it (might have) taken 5 years to make but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
  22. The Star Wars Thread

F me Andor is outstanding. The last couple of episodes, 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and rightly so. This week's one... wow.
  23. Tunic

100%'d this last night. Outstanding. A real achievement, especially given the small dev team. The design is ingenious and the use of the instruction manual you collect, so clever. Happy to compare this to Death's Door given it's virtually identical in terms of gameplay, Tunic is one million times better.
  24. Playstation 5 Console Discussion

Finally a use for the activity cards overlay!
