  1. Red Steel Thread

Theres a good collection of positive views here, and I think Im gonna weigh in with some good feedback, too. Last night before Match of the Day I fired this up and played the first mission... Ill get the negative outta the way first: I had bother loading the game and had to unplug the Wii and start again. Then I found the Menu's a bit weird to navigate and quite difficult to read. The game was very jerky and speech was broken up. This could be linked to the initial loading bother I had. Controls were difficult, I changed to low sensitivity to try and get used to em. When I was speaking to her father after saving him from being shot, he fell through the floor! Like he was there one minute and gone the next! There was only his head and hsoulders poking up through the ground! My arm hurt after. Positives ahoy! Ill get used to the menu style of the drag and drop though cos thats v.cool. I like the style of the cutscenes. Ill get used to the controls, the main problem I had was actually just moving well with the Nunchuk and combining that with moving the 'mote. Hopefully get some great two player games sometime! Ive no problems with the graphics. Its seems like a cool game and Im looking forward to progressing! Its a good game and Im happy enough to own it.
  2. Official Wii Play Thread

Isnt it cool the way different folks like different games on this? Ive played the game a little, twice in one player and twice in two. I think the shooting and racing are probably the stand out games but maybe when I get more skilled opponents Table Tennis will become lotsa fun. In one player I like to play the bubble one... I take it thats Pose Mii? Why you all bashing it? I like it!!
  3. Rayman Raving Rabbids Thread

Erm, with that advice on board I went and retried. Did it first time  I think Im up to Day Four now. Its good stuff, the race was fun but easy. I hope to get some two player later for a few laughs or else just watch someone else trying to play it for beaucoup de laughs What about that wee scene when you have three plungers and it shows you your objective? It was sad... hopeful... cute (the bird)... then suprisingly funny (again, the bird mwahahah!)
  4. Rayman Raving Rabbids Thread

Flip, Ive had to recover this thread from the dregs of N-Europe! Well you know what, this seems like a cool game. The bunnies are the star of the show and are really funny little creatures. Im only scratching the surface - Ive done two days of it. Its making good fun of the Wiimote so far and Ive really enjoyed the two bouts of Bunnies Can Boogie Ive played, I got more fun outta them two games of it than I have in all my time on Donkey Konga  It seems though that even if the bunnies cant close doors... neither can I
  5. A Mario Christmas (Starts on page 8)

I just read the last two or three, great stuff. What about thinking of doing one or two throughout the year instead of making us wait til next winter again? The last part there with the bunnies was inspired! Merry Christmas Sprouty!
  6. Wii Friend Codes Thread

I posted already in the Online Discussion and heres my code again: 2022-9921-5542-2472 If you wanna add me, PM me so I can add you too!

  8. Has the Wii worked?

Nintendinosaur: thats a fantastic story! Im hoping to atleast get my granny to try out some aspect of the thing. She had a blast on Brain Training but just laughed the whole time that it was actually able to understand what she was writing, lol. Oldies playing the Wii would be cool, do you know the film Cocoon? I like it.
  9. Trauma Centre: Second Opinion

I said already that I'd like to see it make the leap to (Europe and) DS, though I'd sure like to see em put it on the Wii... what about a game in the flavour of Yygdra Union? If they somehow got it out soonish, then it could tide us over until Fire Emblem Wii should be unleashed.
  10. Didnt people cry out for a realistic style Zelda to follow Wind Waker? Now it seems that the grass is no greener...? Im yet to play Twilight Princess so I cant comment, but I imagine the graphics to be outstanding and will be much more magical than even OoT for as much as I love that game, I dont seem to put it on such a high pedestal as others, obviously its a classic, and for its time its the best there was. Even nowadays Ive see no problems with it being voted the Best Game Ever. Twilight Princess is no doubt a classic in its own right, ok, people are gonna contrast it with teh uber graphics of the best looking Xbox 360 games they can find, but look at the game in its proper context: a GameCube game dressed up with Wii controls. It (probably) sets out to achieve everything it attempted to, Im sure Nintendo poured all the resources into it they could. PS. A Link to the Past had some very small dungeons. Ive never read of anyone on here moan and groan about that...
  11. Sushi

Ive had sushi a few times... with crab in it Im pretty sure. With a touch of wasabi it went down a treat. I cant mind if there was any other fish in it, but it was very good. Im a fan of fish dishes though so I was always (hopefully!) gonna be impressed with it. Its best fun making your own, get the wee bamboo roller thing and youre laughin (however, try it in the resto too, and see if its up to scratch.)
  12. Voice-acting in the next Zelda game

The thing aswell is, Link doesnt really even speak through text either (unless he does in Twilight Princess) theres usually just a silence where he speaks, then the other character carries on the conversation. Eg: in OoT when Zelda asks your name.
  13. Voice-acting in the next Zelda game

It was a toss up between "No" and "Yes, but with a silent hero." I opted for the latter cos, well, it could work nicely if some characters were voiced. But I like reading, and the old cliche of its cool having your own voices for them and better, too, is actually my opinion. Making little sounds and expressions, with the odd word thrown in here and there is probably how they should keep it though. It works fine, and adds charm
  14. Star Fox Assault

Its suprising though that Namco didnt manage to make a 95% game out of it though, wouldnt you say? Its not like they farmed it out to an unknown, up and coming software house. I think they should reign it back in though, make an outstanding Starfox game, put it back on the map, then take it from there.
  15. Albums of the year!

I didnt realise that Invincible had such a love it or hate it thing to it. On my first two or three listen throughs of the album, Id picked it as the point the album builds up towards... then tails off from. I think its definately the heart of this album, as you said Matt already put it. The album has alot of good points, I mean, I personally listen to Muse cos I think theyre different and are pushing the boundries. This album ticks the right boxes as far as taking themselves forward goes... just, the thing that annoys me the most is... where have all the guitar solo's gone??
  16. Starship Troopers - 9pm - Channel 5

I saw this advertised the other week and was hoping to watch it, but Im gonna get me Chrimbo shopping under way tonight. I was aiming to do a quick two hour stint, from six to eight, up the town and be in for the conclusion of Hogfather. So if I overrun the eight pm target... then Hogfather gets watched on multistart... then its over even later than 22:00 and theres even less of Starship Troopers to be watched. A great old film though. The bit with the cow is the stuff of film lore
  17. Albums of the year!

I was sure with a name like Problematique you'd say Muse However I'm gonna disagree with you and say that Invincible is the best song on the album... and that although Exo-Politics got on my wick for months, when I saw them do it live, I enjoyed it and like it better now. Still, its a low point on the album lol. Its a tough album to judge though, cos its so new and different from even anything Muse themselves had done before. What else do you think of the album as a whole?!
  18. Your Gig Schedule

Me and the chick are for the Strauss Gala in January, canny mind what date though - but thats ok, as she's taking care of it all Should be decent. Apart from that I doubt Ill be at any gigs this year as I cant see Muse making a return over here so soon. Ill let you know if anything else emerges though.
  19. So here we are, its Christmas 2006. But come on, stretch your mind back ten years. The N64 wasnt out in Europe yet and the SNES was on its last legs. Yoshi's Island would have been a big enough AAA game to have in the Super Nintendo's last year of supremecy, but the boys at Twycross went and out did themselves. For Christmas '96 was when the third of the Donkey Kong Country Trilogy was unleashed upon us, Dixie Kongs Double Trouble is the subtitle of this classic. In this installment we controlled Dixie and Kiddie Kong, her cousin, through the Northern Kremisphere in a quest to rescue the captive Donkey and Diddy. The game featured a great selection of Worlds and Levels, from the opening level of Lake Side Limbo right up to Rocket Barrel Rush (I trust thats the name of it, though it could be Rocket Barrel Drop?) The game even incorporated an RPG-esque trading quest that helped freshen the formula from the previous two forays with the family Kong, we were encouraged to visit the Brothers Bear to help them so they would help us, sometimes they would give us more items to continue the trading sequence and others they would give us access to a Banana Bird cave or get the chair lifts going up at Razor Ridge. Bonus games include a 3D type ball throwing contest in Swanky's Tent. You go up against Cranky Kong and you win items from banana's up to lives. I read way back then that you could apparently play this against another human player, though to this day Ive not discovered how to. Anyone know what to do?? Musically, the game is a hit. DKC and DKC II provided us with some of the most toe-tapping stuff around and DKC III followed this trend. A great Easter Egg in the game is to put in the MERRY "cheat," which has a great effect on bonus stages. Instead of the classic theme of getting stars and the typical music thats played, you get treated to collecting presents or baubles all while listening to a great jingly Christmas tune. If you havent tried this, then you havent experienced the game at its finest. So here we are, Christmas 2006 and Retro gaming is becoming all the rage with this Virtual Console caper. If you have a SNES tucked away in the attic then I implore you to get it out, dust it off and hook it up for some Christmas magic in the style that Rare and Donkey Kong perfected. Have a run about K3, head over to see the Baron and kick his meddling behind then let the Queen Banana Bird sort him out. You won't regret it
  20. Ten Years Later: DKC III Anniversary

The Lost World in DKC II was great too and on the whole the game had the highest difficulty. Ive only ever completed it once though, with 102% whereas DKC III has been complted pretty much on a yearly basis lol. I fired it up over the weekend to see that Id deleted my 105% file and had another one started, no doubt in the thinking that Id play through it all once again... though I'd only about 50% done. I started a new file nonetheless. Ive a week to complete it, should definitely be doable, even though Im not feeling overly motivated about it at the mo
  21. Christmas game suggestions..... 2....

GameCube still counts yeah? If thats the case then be sure to get hinting that you're after some Fire Emblem: Path of radiance. Its been a slow year for the Cube otherwise, I doubt you'd be interested in Pokemon: Gale of Darkness? Just a week til the Big Day
  22. Star Fox Assault

Even still, its cool to see someone got plenty of enjoyment from this game! I tried out multiplayer a few times and didnt really get into it - we were back onto F-Zero GX in no time
  23. Bad Influence

Are all these "Best of 2006" type threads getting on your wick? I mean, the years just happened, lets wait ten years before we reminisce on it. If anyone doesnt know, the title of this speaks of an old program on CITV in the nineties. It starred Andy Crane (or Crayon as I prefer) and Violet Berlin. It was about computer games and spanned four series, up until the N64 (Ultra 64!) launch/ just before it. I probably wouldnt make this thread if that little blurb was all I had to tell you, but heres the clincher: last night I actually googled Bad Influence after all this time, I mean why didnt I do that sooner?? Well I found a great site about it that you should all check out - they have even some episodes uploaded there. Really informative stuff. Google for it incase me putting a link is advertising. When you get there, what you want to check out is series three, I think, they did a 12 Days o' Christmas themed computer game song. It was sooo good and watching it again is well worth it if anyone remembers it! So then, does anyone know this show? In my opinion its the best computer games program theres been, yes even eclipsing GamesMaster. Who agrees?
  24. Goldeneye

Sorry that I cant provide you with a quote or a source here, but didnt Reggie say that they were on the case of getting GoldenEye to the VC? Im sure he said that, cos everyone here was like "do you think they'll make it so we can play online?" and all. So dont lose hope yet
  25. Goldeneye

Yeah thats true... but on the other hand, if we had The World is Not Enough for the N64 developed by Rareware, then there would be no moaning about the sci-fi aspects of Perfect Dark. Obviously having a blank canvas to work with in PD they were able to incorporate all kinds of things that wouldnt have been in Bond. Do you think the Carrington Institute would work as MI6 HQ? It kinda could...
