  1. Favourite Legend of Zelda

I've not read all the posts yet - but I will. Ocarina of Time is fast becoming an overrated game around here. Majora's Mask gets my backing. twas between it and Links Awakening but Majora's Mask was longer and 3D and had more to do, so it sneaked it. Links Awakening still has a really moving story though.
  2. Pokemon Battle Revolution

Yeah its definitely online, we knew that a while ago. I'm suprised though that theres no one player adventure...!?!
  3. 1,000 Posts at long last.

You know, I've not spied one of these threads around in donkeys - maybe they've been outlawed have they? Ah well, lets get it underway anyway. I, darksnowman, joined the cube-europe absolute yonks ago. My decision came after ages of lurking before I finally thought I might have something worth saying. As we all know, Cube-Europe went on to bigger and better things and has become what we now know it to be... a non-xorbit based and less problematic community. Ah yes, I've seen many names come and go over my time. I guess I must still be a lurker or I'd have reached this milestone a good while ago, I'm not even sure I reached 500 before the switch. Thanks, then, would go to anyone around here who has created decent threads and/ or made good comments around the place. Without them I'd not visit and wouldnt have anything to post responses to. Thank you all, and keep up the good work. I'll be on my way then, to the meaningless spam thread, to get my next grand of posts underway. I leave this thread to everyone else who has not yet reached the 1,000 post mark so you can notch up one more for yourselves. Ciao!
  4. What do you fear?

You know, I was reading last night that we should fear nothing. I'll get back with some quotes and stuff when I get another gander at the section. As for Pennywise. Clearly he's scarred many a life, I can hardly believe my parents let me watch It when I was a wee nipper. I read it a couple of years back, corker of a book too. It'll be needing reread once I get some (/tons of) other stuff cleared up.

Yeah it might be nice to get a user specific title, but for the time being I shall just enjoy being among the Aficionado's. Maybe if we're looking to be more than that we needa make more of an effort to impress those who govern these boards. They could judge how much quality we contribute to discussions, I'm sure theres plenty o' spamming attempts even with that ten character limit they've got going on.
  6. Rocky Balboa

Twas said in jest, this ones as perfect an ending as there could be to them.
  7. Zelda WW vs Zelda TP vs OoT

Yeah, its the castle isnt it? Thanks for clearing that up THE ganondorf, I've been trying to mind where it was in Wind Waker, cos I was 99% certain there was no Temple o' Time before you said that.
  8. Rocky Balboa

I went to see it this afternoon with the old man. Superb film, surpassed all my expectations. I thought you were all likely being pretty generous saying Sly should get an Oscar or some sort of recognition for it - but you're right. It was all about the story, the drama, the emotion right from the first scene. I was slightly disappointed with the ending, but its as best as we could've hoped to keep it realistic. I dunno what else to say that hasnt been said already. Really, I think it could be one of my favourite films and I'm definitely considering seeing it again in the cinema as well as buying it on DVD. I think thats pretty high praise for it! In closing, if I could change one thing about it, I'd wish it was longer. I could've watched more of Rocky's life and everything that was happening in the build up to the fight. I'd reccommend it to anyone, I don't even think you need to have seen I-V to enjoy it. I can't wait for Volume VII!
  9. Pokemon Battle Revolution

Did he say so then? Urgh thats really gonna make me rethink getting this game then. Is online really enough of a saving grace for it? We shall see what the lay of the land is by the time it hits Europe and whether I think I need it or not. (Graphics still look great though. But that Arcanine they showed a few times looked a bit wonky.)
  10. Pokemon Battle Revolution

I watched that gametrailers one there now - looks good to me! The guy didnt mention it but there is a one player adventure akin to the Cube games, yeah? As wick as that "adventure" is compared to the Gameboy games, its a must for Pokemon Battle Revolution for me.
  11. Wii-mote 2?

Why the money grabbing scoundrels... Well if I dont have four by the time they come out then I'll probably buy one or two. If I have maxed my stash out, then too bad cos I already got a rechargeable battery thingy from Argos specifically for the Wii.
  12. Rate the last film you saw

Lol, not that I wanted to see the Butterfly Effect anyway... but I doubt I ever will now! Well, I watched The Matrix Reloaded. Its the only one of the trilogy I own - got it for about 5 euros near a year ago, so I couldnt pass it up. I think its also my favourite of the three as I find it very watchable. Everyone knows what it is so I'll not bore you with a run down of the story nor my opinion on all three as a whole. Reloaded gets an 8.5/ 10 from me. Great special effects and a fast paced story win me over. (I'll check back later with my Rocky score!)

Well... I was just saying. You should adapt to other cultures a bit more. Twould broaden your horizons.
  14. 1,000 Posts at long last.

So its only the end of the line for the time being? Cos I was just thinking, then I might aswell make a new account and work my way back up through the ranks again! :p In proper spanish its aff-ee-TH-yonado.

Yeah Fields, I hope that my status and credibility are now acceptable around here. Retro, for what its worth, I think I'll check out your Rabbid Blog - if nothing else it should give me a chuckle. Post count-wise, I'm coming for you too boy!
  16. Do you see where he says about Wii being back to the nuts and bolts of gaming? Does he mean that in this day and age that its much easier to make a game that looks astoundingly wonderful than a game thats got the fun factor? If this is the case, then game developers really have lost their way.

Telly, I did indeed spy Solitanze's thread. Cant mind if I posted in it though. I don't think this is my farewell thread... but you never know.
  18. Overrated and underrated Nintendo classics

Reading back through the thread, I'm gonna counter some points. Mario Kart: Double Dash did indeed give me plenty of fun. Mario Kart 64 gave me more but that was because I was at a different stage of my life. Double Dash was great fun for races but not so much for battling as the previous two were. I'm not sure if the official rating of the game is high or not, so I'll leave that to Solitanze to reveal to us in due course. IGN gave it a seven or an eight and thats lower than the amount of fun I got from it. Wind Waker was and is a great game. I never got through my second play through but thats just because I didnt have the time nor the motivation seeing as I'd already completed it once. Even with the Triforce Shard Hunt at the end the game is still a classic. Definitely not underrated. I few ones I didnt put on my list were Mario Footy and StarFox Adventures. I really like em both - Footy has given me plenty of 2-4 player madness and proves that the Wii one should be great. SFA was superb at the time and still is, the only thing that let me down was that it was a little too straight forward and there was nothing to do to deviate from the story. Still, with great graphics, great playability and great fun while it lasts it stands as being a great GameCube game. Metroid is still overrated and you know, Smash Bros might be as well. But I'm willing to let that one off.
  19. Favourite mario game and why.

Does Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island count? If so, I choose it.
  20. Favourite Zelda and why.

Its such a close call between Links Awakening and Majora's Mask that I'm not sure I can decide it. Links Awakening had more emotion in it than any other, though maybe it numbed me from allowing any of the rest to get to me like it did. Who knew a ship wreck could lead to so much? Koholint Island is a place of wonder. The painter, Cat Fish's Maw, Turtle Rock, the Racoon at the beginning and the Wind Fish at the end. Its a pity that this game doesnt relate more to other Zelda's - was it the same owl in OoT? But it did create the Marin and Tarin legacy of characters. Majora's Mask is a classic Zelda and a game I will never forget. You all know how it goes - Link falls through to a parallel world, Termina. Populated by the inhabitants of OoT Hyrule, something that made it all the better and somehow endeared the characters to you all the more. Three days to save them, a ton of chores to undertake to bring happiness to them all and in the very end a mindblowing scene when you got to the Moon. Which to choose? Neither my head nor my heart can do it, so I leave it up to you.
  21. Skies of Arcadia Official Thread

Thats great news / nando / boy, see if you don't love the game after all this turmoil, you don't deserve it. You'll never find the time to play it all though - took me about four or five months to do the thing and I still didnt get all the discoveries nor crew members. Huge game, with graphics that may put you off - between N64 and GameCube quality. Enjoy. :awesome:
  22. Bowser or Ganon?

Bowser would fry him. Ganon's good but Bowser's much better and stronger and badder than a pig-man. What we really want is a cross over game where Bowser takes Princess Zelda and/ or Ganon gets Princess Toadstool. Imagine Bowser getting in a tangle with Link then getting slain, and Ganon humiliated as Mario simply stomps him. I think we're onto something here!
  23. Zelda WW vs Zelda TP vs OoT

Did I dream it or does the Mother and Child rocks get mentioned in Twilight Princess? They do don't they? If so, I think its a very cool reference and link between the two. (It has been quite a while, but I'm positive theres Mother and Child Isle or something in Wind Waker)
  24. F-Zero Wii (speculative)

Yeah, obviously the Wii has the capabilities of getting us online. I'd like to think online is pretty much guaranteed for the next one. I doubt somehow that online will have 30 racers at a time though, never mind a higher figure. Graphically, it should also be at worst on par with GX. I can't see Nintendo scaling it back on us, F-Zero's been on a steady graphical incline throughout its time. I'd expect the Wii version not to buck this trend.
