  1. The Xpert Thread

Hmm I was kinda hoping for a last hurrah this season in the upper league.. but to be honest I'm not playing it nearly enough to justify running it. Would none of the non-forumers from the league that we merged with (caltech et all) be up for running it? If not then yeah by all means. Edit: oh yeah and poor @Ellmeister 's lowly 'elites' will miss out their last chance to finally win an upper league title
  2. Football Season 2015/16

    That top two tho
  3. Virtual Reality

Thought I'd leave a bit of time for you to get used to it (and potentially... over the novelty?) Are you still using it as your primary tv/movies viewing device? I'm feeling it might be quite a good way to focus on what you're watching - I find these days I'm always flicking around online when I'm watching TV. And what are the games like that you can run on a phone, having had a while to check out the library? Tempted to get a samsung next time I upgrade to try it out.. oneplus 2 is considerably cheaper tho so it would have to be pretty fantastic..
  4. Questions

Hello all, Apologies if this has been posted already - but lately I keep getting the minimal version of the forum, without sigs, avatars, etc. I used to be able to get around it by accessing the forum by going on n-europe.com and then clicking the link, but that's no longer working. Any ideas? This one hurts my eyes. Can post screenshots to confirm what I mean if needed. EDIT: I'm a nob. literally on the previous page. Ignore me!
  5. Tomb Raider

Hey braahh.... if this a steam thing? Do you think it the gifting would work for the mac version? If so... can I get it?
  6. Twilight Princess HD (4th March)

Slight digression, but a friend of a friend posted some Zelda fan art he'd made onto facebook the other day, which made me think of the graphics discussion on this thread. Obviously the franchise has gone down a different route, art direction wise, but it's interesting to see where we might be had Nintendo continued down the Twighlight Princess route of art style. Here's the bloke's artstation http://i64.tinypic.com/wlvyok.png
  7. Football Season 2015/16

Watch out for Dele Alli's masterpiece of a goal on MotD later. A thing of beauty. That boy!!
  8. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

I played the PC version on steam last year and thought it was absolutely fantastic - really evokes a kind of desperate mood through the music and the gameplay mechanics. Toward the end of the war I distinctly remember caving in and robbing a house, with an old couple cowering in the kitchen because my team were so desperate for medicine and food. Makes you take tough choices and you feel them.. Kind of a strategy game in some of it's mechanics - I'd be interested to hear how it holds up without a mouse.
  9. The Xpert Thread

Anyone on here still playing? I've been really half arsed this season but am trying to make a push for promotion in the past week or so. Worked it out mathematically and figured it's near impossible... but Winston will try. Wouldn't mind one final season in upper to go out with a bit of a bang. Fantastic dvs nonetheless
  10. Your 2016 Film Diary

Similarly, I'll be interested to see if Emmanuel Lubezki makes it three cinematographer Oscars in a row after Gravity and Birdman. What a mighty talent; surely the thing that really gives the mad energy to those films. I only just noticed his past work when I was googling the other day; he's also responsible for Children of Men, Y Tu Mama Tambian, The Tree of Life, The New World... what a CV. Can't say stills truely capture the way the movement of the camera in films he's worked on Anyway, I loved The Revenant largely for that reason. The combination of sound design and those long tracking action shots.. not sure I've ever seen anything quite like them. Took a long time to get invested in the characters in any way - but definitely a must-see, at the cinema, on the biggest screen you can find...
  11. What Have You Bought?

All about that open bar!! To be honest I loved everywhere that I went - Tokyo and Kyoto are definites and then I also enjoyed Osaka (Great city / food / nightlife) Naoshima (Art Island) Hiroshima & Miyajima (Great city and island alongside the peace park and history) Kinosaki (Onsen town) and lastly there was a mountaintop place with packed with temples and some monastries that you can stay the night in, name escapes me but it was quite special. The alps and Nagasaki are also both really nice but probably not essential - Also I'd maybe skip Nara which most people go to. Obvs depends what you want but in general the suggested itineraries at the start of the lonely planet I remember as being pretty good starting point for picking out a route. Oh yeah and before you go check which things are being refurbished - loads of sites are being done up for the 2016 Olympics! last year a lot of the castles were being rennovated so you couldn't visit. So we'd planned to visit Himeji but had to make last minute change of plans when we worked out we couldn't. The trains are a dream - I'd get the rail pass for a week, and then there are smaller local passes that you can get for say Tokyo and surrounding area for the rest of your time (bit harder to get info on). You can only buy the rail pass outside of japan so get it before you go! Anyway, rambling on but - you'll have a blast. Make sure you stay in a capsule hotel, sort out Ghibli museum tickets before you go if you want to (I couldn't get any for when I arrived), and eat lots of sushi!
  12. What Have You Bought?

Great buy! I spent a couple weeks in Japan last year and absolutely loved it. Have you started to plan where you're going to go? (And what time of year?) Incidentally were the flights particularly hefty or not so bad?
  13. Football Season 2015/16

Every time I click on this thread it, for whatever reason, takes me to your first post on page one and I have a good chuckle. This season could prove quite humiliating for me - I spent about 100 hours playing taking Leicester to a league title on Football Manager a couple of years ago. Claudio is poised to make a mockery of my fictional achievement by doing it in the real world in a season less. Bummed out for the loss but if there's one team I'm happy to lose to this season and at this moment it's Leicester!
  14. What Have You Bought?

Cheers for this guys. I was seconds away from booting up the sequel when I read your post and went for the first one instead. 5 hours in - enjoying it a lot, even if the battle mechanics seem a bit dated.
  15. What Have You Bought?

First buy of the steam sale... Got the next two days off so I might bomb through one of them before new year. I've never played either before - anyone have any advice on which to start with? I'm actually thinking of starting with the sequel as the story sounds a little more up my street. I hear the ending issues have been fixed with official mod support.. or something. Been wanting to play them for years but I'm a bit concerned about how much they'll have seemed to date... still, worth a punt for two quid, esp after forace awakens getting me in the mood
  16. Virtual Reality

Tell us more!! Why do you prefer watching tv / film on it? how good is the quality? does it make you feel ill? Are all occulus compatible games compatible with it? How have you found it for gaming in general? (/ is it even made for gaming? i know zero about samsung vr). And a million other questions!!
  17. Photography.

    Ahh I love Scotland!
  18. Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens

Watched this last night after marathoning the original trilogy last week (and loling at the truely dreadful remastered effects & monsters, which I'd not seen before) First hour or so was truely a joy, completely perfect. Lost it's way a little for me toward the end but overall basically a triumph.
  19. N-Europe GOTY 2015

Yeah that's true for sure. I believe they're working on bringing it to Steam, which will hopefully help it get the wider audience it deserves. I'd read it's done so poorly (despite good reviews) that the company are struggling to recoup the money from development. Quite sad given the whole thing was made by three people!
  20. Xpert 11 NE: Season 1, Simul (Summer 2016)

I think @peeps will be keeping the other league going at the same time, at least for a while - mainly because it would be cruel on the other league that we merged with to shut it down!
  21. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

^ I second that. Quite hard to get in to (you gotta have a few good cards to beat anyone really) but truely addictive once you do. Fond memories of riding across all of Skellige just to find new merchants to battle. DLC screenshots for the final expansion out the other day! Looking forward to diving back in : peace:
  22. N-Europe GOTY 2015

Here goes... This War of Mine was my favorite game I've played this year that wasn't released this year. Addictive, great mood, and the kind of game that makes you feel like an arse for taking immoral (/easy) routes. Honorable mention - Geometry Wars 3 - Still a blast to play and a great looking game but rather too many levels and power ups to really addict me in the way that the streamlined GW2 did. 5 - Sunless Sea Unexpected, oddball surprise on Steam. Kind of point and click adventure where you pilot a ship across a.. sunless sea. All kinds of weird places to explore in an odd kind of text adventure style. 4 - Fallout 4 Fun crafting system and sense of progression, satisfying weight to the shooting, and a great atmosphere sneaking around creepy old buildings and the like. Could yet improve in my standing, but for now ultimately suffers by comparison to my number one from this year... 3 - Rocket League Sometimes I truely loathe this bastard of a game sometimes but it's great to have such quality local multiplayer these days. Unbeatable with a stack of beers and a buddy. 2 - N++ Sadly flown right under the radar but this is one of the most perfectly constructed games I've played in years. Being one of only eight people in the world to have finished the hardest co-op levels is one of my biggest gaming achievements in ages! Amazing local co-op in general, perfectly refined platforming dynamics and controls, and hard as nails on the higher levels. A must buy if anyone spots it in a PSN sale in future. 1 - Witcher 3 Truely an astounding achievement, and everything I've wanted games to evolve to since completing Ocarina of Time fifteen years ago. Beautiful world, characters, and politics; some truely memorable storylines playing off each other, and every single side quest is a fleshed out story within itself. Gwent is also probs my favorite meta-game to boot. Masterpiece!
  23. General Movie Thread

My film of the year. Just beautiful.
  24. Xpert 11 NE: Season 1, Simul (Summer 2016)

HYPE!!!! Gonna be good to have you back. I'm getting excited already. Gon start hitting people up on that hotline bling end of Spring 2016
  25. Fallout 4

Hahaha that was great, love the replies to that dumb character builder video. Big fan of Miller and those guys
