  1. Jade Goody Dead

It's about as tasteless as Jade so I think it's rather appropriate.
  2. Jade Goody Dead

Funeral Plans: Jade's getting cremated and after the ceremony everyone gets given a goody bag.
  3. Formula 1 2009

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  4. Games you have YET to finish

Well as a kid it was just too hard, I think the furthest I managed (on about 4 seperate occasions) was the 5th dungeon the Dark World, before I sold my SNES to help pay for a Gamecube. On the GBA version, I got to roughly the same place before it got nicked on holiday. Then I had the master quest disc which came with Mario Kart: Double Dash and finished Ocarina and Majora's Mask for the 2nd time each but never finished Link To The Past before flogging it on ebay for £30 when it was a hot item. Finally I downloaded it on VC last year but I'm always pre-occupied with Wii games but this past week I've been really ill (bed ridden) for the first time in about 10 years. I could barely move my arms so that ruled out pretty much every Wii game. So since Saturday I've just been playing Zelda and F-Zero. I was absolutly powering through Zelda and I just though right I'm going to finish it. Took me about 6 hours to get to the 5th dungeon and another 6 to finish the rest of it. Apparently I died 47 times, but my reaction were somewhat hampered . Great game, but I think the Handheld versions are better (Link's Awakening and Oracles). Edit: here's the rest of the list I've still got to finish... Boom Blox Buly de Blob Disaster: DoC Godfather Twilight Princess Manhunt 2 Prime 3 No More Heroes Okami Resi Evil 4 Trauma Centre: NB Zack and Wiki LostWinds Onslaugh Homestar Runner World Of Goo F-Zero GX Star Wars Rebel Strike F-Zero Secret of Mana Super Mario RPG Paper Mario Sin and Punishment Gunstar Heroes Ristar Sonic 2 Sonic 3 Kid Icarus Mega Man
  5. Games you have YET to finish

Legend of Zelda: Link To The Past - Started: May 1994 - Completed: March 19th 2009. *Sigh of relief*
  6. Formula 1 2009

Well I'm not amused at these changes and I was hoping that 2009 would be the best season for a long time. I think however, I'll reserve judgement until after the 3rd or 4th race and if there is no positive change then I think it will be best to revert to a broader points system. I am pretty puzzled at this decision though and I hate to say it but it smacks of Bernie and Max being annoyed that Massa didn't win last year. Perhaps they should have waited until next year to introduce this becuase I think it would have had a much greater effect in corrolation with the refuelling ban. i.e. drivers risking staying out or losing time changing tyres. Time will tell though, as always. But for now I am skeptical.
  7. Conventional Wii comparible games

World Sport Competition - (TGX-16) On the VC for a measly 600 points. One of the most fun party games ever. Made waaaaay back in 1990 this is one of the best button bashing olympic games of all time. Lots of games to choose from, cheesy graphics and music but oh so much gameplay. ToeJam and Earl - (Mega Drive) Excellent 2 player game and very, very difficult. Fairly unique game that you cant really class in a genre. It's rare you'll come across something so original and funky. Classic co-op experience! Viewtiful Joe - (Cube) Quirky platformer/beat 'em up hybrid from Capcom. Beautiful art style, phenomenal gameplay and extremely difficult (but oh so rewarding). A highlight of the gamecube and (in my opinion ) the best of 'the capcom 5' including Resi Evil 4. Kid Icarus - (NES) Thought the Mega Man games were hard? This is one of Nintendo's finest moments on the NES. Brutal, but quite possibly the most rewarding game I've ever played. Music, atomosphere and qulity old school platforming proved that Nintendo could do something drastically different to Mario and pull it off with ease. Honarable mentions, not on the Wii (yet). Beetle Adventure Racing, Rocket Robot on Wheels, Pilotwings and World Driver Championship (N64). Aladdin and Super Mario Kart. (SNES). Battletoads (NES).
  8. The Wrasslin' thread

Is it just me or is TNA really, really bad at the moment? The storylines are getting ridiculous
  9. The Wrasslin' thread

To be fair I didn't think he was all that great. His stint in T&A was good but as a singles wrestler, particularly in the beginning he was only near the top because Vince had a hard-on for big muscle-bound guys. In-ring and on the mic he was never above average really. It's still a real shame to see someone die so young though, especially after he'd retired from wrestling, it really does show the other guys in the lockeroom just what steroids do to you and hopefully some of them may start to realise that.
  10. The Wrasslin' thread

Andrew "Test" Martin has died aged 33. http://www.pwinsider.com/ViewArticle.php?id=37176&p=1 Details are very scarce but it's likely to be steroid related. Thoughts are with his family and friends. Another wrestling fan questioning the ethics of the business . Hopefully The Wrestler has acheived something in this area, exposing it etc.
  11. The Wrasslin' thread

I'd put my house on Taker winning.
  12. Who Here Actually Owns A Wii?

But, the Wii is at the cutting edge of technology, Wii motion plus and the even the remote itself provides a completely different input method. One that delivers a much more immersive user experience. Pressing buttons is so 1995. And while your points are entirely valid in regards to sound, physics and AI. More often than not the emphasis is on realism. Gaming is clearly splitting off into 2 different directions and I'm much happier with where the Wii is going. A few examples: PES 2009/FIFA 09 - The 'next gen' version offers greater opponant AI, better ball physics, a wealth of online modes, enough options for the gamer to play for weeks on end but B is still shoot, A is still pass and R is still sprint, similar in design to the days of the Mega Drive/SNES era. Where as the Wii version of the game offers IR control of the whole team, not just individual players. In depth tactical movement on-the-fly. Easily cutomised direction of passes/shots. To me, the Wii version clearly is the more immersive version because the other stuff just doesn't matter as much. It's a videogame, I don't care if the Graphics are "realistic" or the sound is authentic, if the ball moves in a way that simulates a real football, or if Rio Ferdinand makes decisions like his real life counterpart. If I wanted a realsitic game of football, I'd get some friends together and go outside. If I wanted a fun game of football, I'd boot up my wii, which I find to be much more 'immersive' than the next gen counterpart. The same applies to shoot 'em ups you can have all the AI, sound, realism, graphics and technology in the world but if you don't have the fullest possible control over what your doing, is that innovation? Is that pushing technology? No that's improving every aspect the hardware constraints allow. So while enemies may be smarter and there's more explodable stuff in the environment which reacts realistically, it's still just a similar FPS but with a massive online mode, replacing the need for any AI anyway. Essentialy the same skills are still involved in mastering it than in 1999. Not everyone has 40inch HDTV's with 7.1 Dolby surround sytems. Infact I'd bet that less than 20% of PS3/XBOX's userbase have this or the equivilent, yet they're the ones who moan about the Wii not pushing technology. They are simply looking at the fact that the Wii looks a bit naff on their expensive TV's, sounds crappy and isn't stiving towards a realistic immersive experience, when in fact, it is... Ultimatly, I'd take any FPS or Sports Game (2 of the main driving forces behind the 'next gen' consoles) on a Wii anyday before a Xbox or PS3 because they provide a much more immersive and fun experience, in my opinion of course. Edit: Also, is it just me, or is the majority of online gaming a little bit pointless? Oh, look at me I'm ranked 171 in the world on COD5, I'd better play for 2 hours everyday to keep and/or improve my ranking. Where's the sense of achievement? I find online gaming so dull, unless it's with friends of course. But nothing compares to having 4 people in the same room. I can understand co-op games online but everything else is just a little well, futile, if you ask me...
  13. Who Here Actually Owns A Wii?

I got a Wii on launch day and now I own 23 retail games, 4 WiiWare and 25 or so VC games. It is the only console I have though bar N64 which I never play anymore.
  14. EA Sports: Grand Slam Tennis!

IGN podcast confirmed that there is NO Mii support but they think it's likely they'll be a create a character mode more in context with the character design of the game.
  15. Miyamoto Was Sad During GameCube Era

Uhm, This. Excellent point. The Wii has been out 2 years. It has had 4 BLOCKBUSTER games from Nintendo, all of which have been in development for 2+ years, some longer (Smash Bros, Galaxy, Zelda, Prime 3). Then there's the likes of Mario Kart and Animal Crossing ('bridge' titles) which may seem a little 'cheap' but still provide a lot of quality gaming time. And of course your casual hits, Wii Music, Fit and Sports which are all very good 'games' . Now will someone please tell me when, in the first 2 years of a home console Nintendo has released this many quality games, let alone 4 blockbusters. Everyone needs to stop complaining. Original IP's, resurrections of 'dead franchises' (Punch Out/Sin and Punishment, Kid Icarus?), Sequals to Zelda, Pikmin et al are all almost guarenteed to be in development. The 2nd party support is consistantly good, if a little under appreciated by Nintendo themselves and there is a 3rd Party library already out which is very respectable (Godfather, NMH, Zack and Wiki, HotD:OK, need I go on?). And then you've got a 3rd party 2009 line-up that will knock the socks off the Cube and N64's entire 3rd party library. Capping it all off; Wii motionplus, anyone? Take a look at the developer diary videos on IGN from EA. Stop complaining. Start gaming.
  16. Weight Loss 2009

Bump. Down to 10st 2lbs now. Loss of 23lbs in just around 2 months. My target is 9 Stone and I've given myself until June to do it. I have never felt this fit in my life. I can run, and climb hills without breaking a sweat now, it's great. I also can't believe how well I've stuck at it. Onward...
  17. Rumor Control - IGN's Nintendo Voice Chat

This weeks poscast was excellent. The banter and comedy was top drawer stuff. I LOL'd in the supermarket more than once...
  18. Formula 1 2009

This is really, really great stuff. I hope Brawn GP are fighting for points, maybe even the odd podium this year. They have 3 of the most likeable men in Formula 1 on their team and they deserve some mild success after what must have been a horrible winter.
  19. MadWorld

I 100% agree and while I'm also desperate for my loan this and the conduit are getting brand new purchases from me as soon as I have the cash. Both developers deserve the sales. Madworld especially.
  20. The Simpsons Season 20 - A Return to Form?

I've loved episode one and two of the new season and might I add on my Sky HD Box . Whilst I agree that it's not quite there yet they're on the right path. I'm so sick of the ridiculous situations, i.e. "YAY! The Simpsons are going to..." I much prefer it more grounded in reality with a nice twist.
  21. Wii Music!

I suck at this game. Badly. I can't put even a simple melody together. Any tips?
  22. Wii General Discussion

Nintendo Power has reviewed a few games this month: Madworld: 9.0 Rune Factory Frontier: 7.5 Kororinpa 2: 7.5 Final Fantasy CC 6.0 DS version of CC got 6.5'd Glad to see madworld hit the 9's, great story, excellent controls and a huge amount of replay value were a few of the positives. The commentators are said to be annoying after a while but this is customary with any game featuring commentators. I also had huge expectations for Rune Factory so I'm a little disappointed to see it scoring in the 7's. They cited advancedment through the story as being slow and a bit clueless as to why they gave it a low score.
  23. RetroSpective - F Zero GX

I've been playing this loads recently. Aweeeesome game. But, I can't even complete the Story mode on normal, I'm stuck on chapter 6. I'm also majorly failing at Grand Prix on extreme. I suck.
  24. Formula 1 2009

There's a great deal of new stuff on the BBC F1 website including videos & blogs etc: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/default.stm Look's like they're going all out in an effort to at least match itv's fairly good online coverage. EDIT: BREAKING NEWS At the FOTA meeting held on Wednesday it was announced that there will be a new scoring system for 2009 - (Source: gpupdate.net) 12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1. I think this is excellent news as there wasn't enough distinction between 1st and 2nd places before and now hopefully it will encourage drivers to get the extra point awarded for 1st place. I really liked the system before when it was 10-6-4-3-2-1 as it really made the winners stand out more. While I wish the gap between 1st and 2nd was 4 or even 5 points; 3 points is better than 2, hopefully it improve the racing.
  25. Rune Factory Frontier

Well this is out in under 2 weeks in the US, is it true its not out here until September/October? Looks like I'm going to be importing I can't wait to get my hands on it!
